''Hearts of Youth'' is a lost 1921 American silent film based on the novel ''Ishmael'' by E. D. E. N. Southworth. The film was directed by Tom Miranda and Millard Webb, with Webb writing the adaption for the screen. The movie stars Harold Goodwin, Colin Kenny, and Iris Ashton, and was released by the Fox Film Corporation Plot Ishmael Worth renounces his young sweetheart, Beatrice, because he believes himself to be illegitimate and does not want to bring shame to her. Later it is revealed that his mother and father had married. His father's previous wife, thought to be dead, turns up to confront him; but the fact that the first wife was a bigamist makes her marriage to Ishmael's father null and void and the marriage between his mother and father therefore valid. Ishmael, having a legitimate father, now can give Beatrice an honest name. Millard Webb
Millard Webb (December 6, 1893 – April 21, 1935) was an American screenwriter and director who directed 20 films between 1920 and 1933. His best-known film is the 1926 silent John Barrymore adventure ''The Sea Beast (1926 film), The Sea Beast'', a version of ''Moby Dick'', costarring Dolores Costello. Webb also directed the early sound Florenz Ziegfeld produced talkie ''Glorifying the American Girl'' released by Paramount Pictures, Paramount in 1929. In 1927 he directed ''Naughty but Nice (1927 film), Naughty but Nice'', produced by John McCormick (producer), John McCormick and First National Pictures. His active years were from 1916 to 1933. He was married to Lydia Stocking (1918–1923). Mary Eaton married Webb in 1929, but they separated. He was born in Clay City, Kentucky, U.S., and died in Los Angeles, California of intestinal ailment at the age of 40. Glen Cavender
Glen Cavender (September 19, 1883 – February 9, 1962) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 250 films between 1914 and 1949. Biography Glen Cavender was born in Tucson, Arizona, and died in Hollywood, California. He started his acting career in vaudeville shows. Cavender belonged to the original Keystone Cops and was a regular in numerous Mack Sennett comedies. He also worked as a director for three Mack Sennett films between 1914 and 1916. During the 1920s, Cavender worked for the film studios Educational and Christie and appeared in Buster Keaton's film classic '' The General'' (1926) as the antagonistic Union Captain Anderson. The advance of sound film in the late 1920s damaged his career and, formerly a well-known actor, Cavender only played minor roles until his retirement in 1949.
