Heart Warming
Heart Warming was a gospel record label started by John T. Benson Jr. Heart Warming and their chief rival Canaan Records (owned by Word Records) were arguably the two biggest and best gospel labels in their time. The Oak Ridge Boys, Jd Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, Jake Hess & The Imperials, Dottie Rambo, Bill Gaither Trio and Speer Family all signed to it and had many recordings on it. The Cathedral Quartet produced two of their most popular albums on it With Brass and With Strings. Producers for the label included Bob Benson (John Benson's son), Bob MacKenzie (died Oct. 20, 2000), and Don Light. Bob MacKenzie in particular produced some of the best gospel albums of that era and some of the best albums of the groups above. Bob Benson (record Producer)
Robert William Benson (9 February 1883 – 19 February 1916) was an English professional footballer, who played as a full back. Born in Whitehaven, Cumbria he spent the majority of his professional career with Sheffield United but also had spells with Southampton and Woolwich Arsenal. He gained a solitary England cap in 1913 as well as representing The Football League and undertaking an FA tour of South Africa but died as a result of playing a football match in 1916. Club career Newcastle United Benson had worked as a coal-miner whilst playing for various local clubs in and around Whitehaven where he was born, including Swalwell, where he was spotted by Newcastle United and signed as a professional in December 1902. Bill Gaither (gospel Singer)
William James Gaither (born March 28, 1936) is an American singer and songwriter of Southern gospel and contemporary Christian music. He has written numerous popular Christian songs with his wife Gloria; he is also known for performing as part of the Bill Gaither Trio and the Gaither Vocal Band. In the 1990s, his career gained a resurgence (as well as the careers of other southern gospel artists), as popularity grew for the Gaither Homecoming series. Early life Bill Gaither was born in Alexandria, Indiana in 1936 to George and Lela Gaither. Naomi Sego Reader (February 17, 1931 – November 3, 2017) was a Southern gospel singer and recording artist. She is recognized as one of the great female icons of southern gospel music. Life and career Naomi Sego was born Naomi Ruth Easter in Enigma, Georgia to Jonathan Andrew and Nona Cook Easter. She had four sisters and three brothers. In 1946, singer James Sego formed a singing group with his brothers Lamar and Walter "W.R." called “The Harmony Kings”, before settling on the name “The Sego Brothers.” Naomi Easter met James Sego in 1948. The Rambos
The Rambos were an American Southern gospel music group that was formed in the 1960s. They were one of the most successful Gospel trios of the 20th century. The group consisted of Buck and Dottie Rambo at first along with several various people singing with them and they were joined by their daughter, Reba, in 1965. They were a successful singing trio born out of the United Pentecostal Church. They were inducted into the Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame in 2001. Benson Records was founded by Bob Benson and John T. Benson, who formed the John T. Benson Music Publishing Company in 1902. The record label started out as Heart Warming Records, creating house labels such as Impact Records, Greentree Records, RiverSong, StarSong, Power Discs and Home Sweet Home. In the 1970s, Impact became the top label with artists such as New Dawn, the Imperials, J.D.
