Elle Moxley (formerly Elle Hearns, born 1986/1987) is an American transgender rights activist. She co-founded the Black Lives Matter Global Network, where she served as a strategic partner and organizing coordinator, and founded The Marsha P. Johnson Institute, where she serves as executive director. Early life and education Moxley was born in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up in a single-parent home with two sisters. She struggled being raised as a "little black boy who was existentially trapped in a boy’s body, but was definitely very much so female." Before discovering that she was transgender, she thought she was gay, and dealt with suicidal thoughts as she thought being gay was a sin. Ronald Hearns (born 19 March 1978) is an American professional boxer and the son of Thomas Hearns. Hearns fights at both the light middleweight and middleweight divisions. Background Hearns began boxing as a teenager at Kronk and Butzel Gym’s in Detroit. However, his father, a former world champion had him barred from the gyms in order that he would concentrate on his education. Hearns attended American University where he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. During his time at AU he played for the university basketball team, ''the Eagles''. Thomas Hearns (born October 18, 1958) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 2006. Nicknamed the "Motor City Cobra", and more famously "The Hitman", Hearns's tall, slender build and oversized arms and shoulders allowed him to move up over fifty pounds in his career and become the first boxer in history to win world titles in five weight divisions: welterweight, light middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight. Hearns was named Fighter of the Year by ''The Ring'' magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America in 1980 and 1984; the latter following his knockout of Roberto Durán.
