Hear Music
Hear Music was a record label that was founded in 2007 in a partnership between Concord Music Group and Starbucks. Hear Music began as a catalog company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1990 before being purchased by Starbucks in 1999. Concept The Hear Music brand has four components: the music that each location plays; in-store CD sales, including Starbucks exclusives; branded retail stores, which opened shortly after the catalog was formed, and a label distributing their recordings. As of December 2006, there were four Starbucks Hear Music Coffeehouses: Santa Monica, California, on the Third Street Promenade; San Antonio, Texas, on the River Walk; Miami, Florida, on the Lincoln Road shopping promenade; and Bellevue, Washington, in Bellevue Square. Concord Music Group was an American independent music company based in Beverly Hills, California, with worldwide (including the U.S.) distribution through Universal Music Group. The company specialized in recordings ( Fearless Records, Concord Records, Fantasy Records, Rounder Records, Loma Vista Recordings, Craft Recordings) and music publishing. James Hunter (singer)
James Hunter (born 2 October 1962) is an English R&B musician and soul singer. Career Hunter was born to a working-class family in Colchester, Essex. His early musical influences came from his grandmother's collection of 78rpm records of R'n'B and rock and roll music. Before turning 10, Hunter had begun playing the guitar and singing His career began with a band called Howlin' Wilf and the Vee-Jays, who released their first album in 1986 entitled ''Cry Wilf''. The Chieftains
The Chieftains are a traditional Irish folk band formed in Dublin in 1962, by Paddy Moloney, Seán Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their sound, which is almost entirely instrumental and largely built around uilleann pipes, has become synonymous with traditional Irish music. They are regarded as having helped popularise Irish music around the world. They have won six Grammy Awards during their career and they were given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. The Cars
The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. Emerging from the new wave scene in the late 1970s, they consisted of Ric Ocasek ( rhythm guitar), Benjamin Orr (bass guitar), Elliot Easton (lead guitar), Greg Hawkes (keyboards), and David Robinson ( drums). Ocasek and Orr shared lead vocals, and Ocasek was the band's principal songwriter and leader. The Cars were at the forefront of the merger of 1970s guitar-oriented rock with the new synthesizer-oriented pop that became popular in the early 1980s. ''The Bedroom Tapes'' is the 18th studio album by American singer-songwriter Carly Simon, released by Arista Records, on May 16, 2000. The album received widespread critical acclaim upon release, and Simon promoted it through many television appearances; notably on Good Morning America, where she performed a concert in Bryant Park on May 19, 2000, which featured songs from the album, as well as some of her classic hits, such as "You're So Vain" and "Nobody Does it Better". Despite the warm reception, the album soon went out of print. ''This Kind of Love'' is the 22nd studio album by American singer-songwriter Carly Simon, released by Hear Music, on April 29, 2008. Simon's first album of original material since ''The Bedroom Tapes'' in 2000, it is also her most recent album to date consisting of brand new songs. It debuted at No. 15 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' 200 chart, selling about 23,000 copies in its first week. By late 2009, the album had sold 124,000 copies. Background ''This Kind of Love'' was released via the Starbucks-owned label Hear Music and was to be sold in Starbucks outlets as well as by general music retailers.
