The Head of Tambov Oblast (russian: Глава Тамбовской области) is the Governor (Russia), head of government of that Subdivisions of Russia, region of Russia. History of office In the late 1991, the President of Russia Boris Yeltsin appointed the first heads of the newly established post-Soviet executive authorities in the regions. On 11 December 1991 Vladimir Babenko, chief of Tambov regional hospital and people's Congress of People's Deputies of Russia, deputy of the RSFSR, was appointed head of administration of Tambov Oblast. Later this region refused to rename the office into Governor (Russia), governor, as most of other ''Oblasts of Russia, oblasts'' did. Maksim Borisovich Yegorov (Russian: Максим Борисович Егоров; born 23 May 1977) is a Russian politician. He is currently the acting Head of Administration of Tambov Oblast, Head of Tambov Oblast, since 4 October 2021, when his predecessor, Aleksandr Nikitin (politician), Aleksandr Nikitin, resigned, at his own request. 2022 Tambov Oblast Gubernatorial Election
The 2022 Tambov Oblast gubernatorial election took place on 9–11 September 2022, on common election day. Acting Governor Maksim Yegorov was elected to a full term. Background Aleksandr Nikitin served as Head of Administration of Tambov Oblast since 2015, replacing 15-year incumbent Oleg Betin. That year, Nikitin won the election for a full term with 85.47% of the vote. Nikitin won a second term in 2020 with 79.30% of the vote. Despite modest economic achievements, Nikitin's term was marked by poor consolidation of regional elite, which resulted in several setbacks for the administration. One of them was United Russia's defeat in the 2020 Tambov City Duma elections, when Rodina, affiliated with former Tambov Mayor Maksim Kosenkov won 26 seats out of 36. 2020 Russian Regional Elections
The 2020 Russian regional elections took place across three days from 11 to 13 September 2020 in 28 out of the 85 federal subjects of Russia. Elected were 18 directly-elected governors, 2 indirectly-elected governors and 11 regional parliaments. The elections also coincided with local elections in many cities. A total of 156,000 candidates stood for 78,000 positions at regional, local and municipal levels. The vote was extended over three days in a move the government said was to avoid over-crowding and reduce the risk from COVID-19. Candidates for the ruling United Russia party and their allies won all 20 governorships with more than 50% of the vote, meaning they would not need to hold a second round run-off. Aleksandr Valeryevich Nikitin (russian: Александр Валерьевич Никитин; born 26 April 1976), is a Russian statesman who is currently the Senator from Tambov Oblast since 7 October 2021. He was the 5th Head of Administration of Tambov Oblast since 22 September 2015 to 4 October 2021. He is a member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party.
