Hazel Park High School is a public high school in Hazel Park, Michigan. The school serves grades 9-12 and is a part of the Hazel Park Schools District. It opened in 1929 at the current site of the Junior High School and moved to its current location in 1961. The school has been named a Reward School by the Michigan Department of Education. Hazel Park, Michigan
Hazel Park is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As a part of Metro Detroit, the city shares its southern border with the city of Detroit. As of the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, the population was 16,422. Hazel Park was incorporated as a city in 1941 and bills itself as ''The Friendly City''. From 1949 to 2018, it was the site of the Hazel Park Raceway, considered a high-quality facility originally used for both Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing. The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is a state agency of Michigan, in the United States. The MDE oversees public school districts in the state. The department is governed by the State Board of Education. Robert Lynn Welch (November 3, 1956 – June 9, 2014) was an American professional baseball starting pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1978–87) and Oakland Athletics (1988–94). Daniel Smick (December 24, 1915 – April 6, 1975) was an American professional basketball and minor league baseball player. Steve Fraser
Steven Howard "Steve" Fraser (born March 23, 1958) is an American Greco-Roman wrestler and coach. He was the 1984 Olympic Games gold medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling, in the 90 kg weight class. Fraser's gold medal was the first ever for the United States in Greco-Roman wrestling. A native of Hazel Park, Michigan, Fraser was a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) state wrestling champion. In college he was a two-time All-American wrestler, wrestling at the University of Michigan. Fraser's gold medal was the first ever Olympic gold in Greco-Roman wrestling for the United States. The next night following Fraser's gold medal performance, Jeff Blatnick won a second gold medal for the U.S. Greco-Roman Olympic team.
