Haywood is an unincorporated community recognized as a local urban district in the province of Manitoba, Canada. Haywood is situated in the Rural Municipality of Grey, east of St. Claude, Manitoba, St. Claude and west of Elm Creek. The community includes a church, a hall, a cemetery, and many other public areas and services that most communities provide. Haywood, however, does not have a school, and therefore, students ride the bus to St. Claude, Manitoba, St. Claude, a neighbouring community to the west. Haywood was founded in 1907. The centennial anniversary was acknowledged in 2007. The event was celebrated by featuring a float parade, sponsored by a number Haywood and St. Claude businesses and families. Career Haywoode trained from an early age at London's Corona Stage Academy. Haywood was an indie rock quartet from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, New York that was active from 1992 to 2000. They have been compared to Superchunk and Modest Mouse. While the band achieved only modest success in their eight years together, their third album ''We Are Amateurs, You and I'' was well reviewed, receiving an 8.2 rating on Pitchfork and praises from John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats. The release is regarded as the album which could have kick-started Haywood's rise to fame, had they not coincided the release with the announcement that the band had split up. Haywood County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 62,089. The county seat and its largest city is Waynesville. Haywood County is part of the Asheville, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Part of indigenous territory considered the Cherokee homeland, the county was formed by European Americans in 1808 from the western part of Buncombe County. It was named for John Haywood, who served as the North Carolina State Treasurer from 1787 to 1827. In 1828 the western part of Haywood County became Macon County. In 1851 parts of Haywood and Macon counties were combined to form Jackson County.
