Haydenettes 2006
The Haydenettes are a senior-level synchronized skating team representing Hayden Recreation Centre in Lexington, Massachusetts, United States. They are five-time bronze medalists at the World Synchronized Skating Championships, earning the title in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2016. Formed in 1979 by Lynn Benson, the Haydenettes are the most successful synchronized skating team in U.S. history, with 28 U.S. National titles. Team Members of the Haydenettes are required to have mastered advanced figure skating skills, including senior-level moves, gold-level pattern dances, and at least novice freestyle. The Hayden teams draw skaters from around the world, though the teams are composed primarily of skaters from the greater Boston area. Synchronized skating is an ice skating sport where between 8 to 16 skaters perform together as a team. They move as a flowing unit at high speed over the ice, while performing elements and footwork. This complex sport originated in 1956 and was initially called "precision skating" due to its emphasis on the maintenance of intricate and precise formations and the requirement of precise timing from all members of the group. Helsinki Rockettes are a senior-level synchronized skating team from Helsinki, Finland, representing the figure skating club Helsingin Taitoluisteluklubi. The Skating Club of Boston is a not-for-profit figure skating club based in Norwood, Massachusetts. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest skating clubs in the United States, and a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating, the governing body for the sport in the United States. The New England Sports Center is a two-story, eight-rink ice-skating facility located in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
