Hayat Kabasakal
Hayat Kabasakal (née Enbiyaoğlu) is a Turkish management academic researching leadership, culture, gender, disaster management, and organizational behavior. She is a professor in the management department at Boğaziçi University. Education Hayat Enbiyaoğlu completed a B.A. (1978) and a M.B.A. (1979) in the management department of the faculty of economics and administrative sciences at Boğaziçi University. In 1979, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for her doctoral studies. Boğaziçi University ( tr, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi), also known as Bosphorus University, is a major research university in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkish women in academics refers to Turkish women who make scientific research or teach in the universities in Turkey and abroad. Background During the Ottoman Empire era women had no chance to teach in the universities except for the very last years of the empire when Committee of Union and Progress (İttihat ve Terakki Partisi) came to power. The first Turkish woman who was able to teach in Istanbul University (then known as Darülfunun) was Halide Edib (later Halide Edib Adıvar) in 1918.
