Hawkins Grenade
The Grenade, Hand, Anti-Tank, No. 75, also known as the "Hawkins grenade" was a British anti-tank hand grenade used during World War II. It was one of a number of grenades developed for use by the British Army and Home Guard in the aftermath of the Dunkirk evacuation. The grenade first appeared in 1942, and was designed to be more versatile than previous grenades, such as the No. 73 grenade and the sticky bomb. It was rectangular in shape, about in length and in width, and contained approximately of explosive. When a vehicle drove over the grenade, it cracked a chemical igniter and leaked acid onto a sensitive chemical, which detonated the explosive. Multiple grenades were often used to destroy tanks or disable their tracks, and the grenade could also be used as a demolition charge. Hawkins Electrical Guide
The ''Hawkins Electrical Guide'' was a technical engineering book written by Nehemiah Hawkins, first published in 1914, intended to explain the highly complex principles of the new technology of electricity in a way that could be understood by the common man. The book is notable for the extremely high number of detailed illustrations it contains, and the small softbound size of the volumes. The book was published by Theodore Audel & Company, and the majority of the illustrative content became the basis of decades of follow-up books published under the ''Audels'' brand name. The illustrative content of these books can still be found in Audels books sold new today. Because the ''Hawkins Electrical Guide'' was printed in the United States prior to 1923, the content of the books has passed into the public domain. Free media access on the Internet Due to several book digitizing initiatives such as the Gutenberg project, and , many of these older public domain books are becomin ...

Hawkins-class Cruiser
The ''Hawkins'' class consisted of five heavy cruisers built for the Royal Navy during the First World War, although none of them saw service during the war. The three ships remaining as cruisers in 1939 served in the Second World War, with ''Effingham'' being an early war loss through wreck; ''Raleigh'' had been lost in a similar shipwreck on uncharted rocks in 1922 (and ''Vindictive'' was nearly lost to grounding in 1919). ''Vindictive'', though no longer a cruiser, also served throughout the War. This class formed the basis for the definition of the maximum cruiser type under the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. Design Although the ''Hawkins'' class are sometimes named as the "Improved ''Birminghams''", referring to the ''Birmingham'' sub-class of the Town-class light cruisers, their desi ...
