Hauptstadion
The Hauptstadion is a stadium located in Soers, Sport Park Soers in Aachen, Germany. It is used for equestrianism, equestrian and show jumping. It was renovated in 2005 and has a capacity of 40,000 spectators. It hosted the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games. In July 1970, it was the location of the Aachen Open Air Pop Festival. CHIO Aachen
The CHIO Aachen () is a popular international horse show held in Aachen, Germany, each summer. The event Competitions in show jumping, dressage, eventing, four-in-hand driving, and vaulting are held at the CHIO Aachen. According to the rules of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), each country may only stage one Nations Cup event in each horse sport discipline. In Germany, the Nations Cup events in show jumping, dressage, eventing and four-in-hand driving are held at the CHIO (Concours Hippique International Officiel, Nations Cup event in different disciplines) in Aachen. Also a vaulting nations competition are held here. Its organizer is the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein society, which was founded in 1898. 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games
The 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games were held in Aachen, Germany from August 20 to September 3, 2006. They were the 5th edition of the games which are held every four years and run by the FEI. It was held in the Soers, a district of Aachen. The main stadium of this event was the Hauptstadion. Host selection On September 18, 2002 in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, the FEI awarded the 2006 Games to Aachen. The only other host city applicant was Lexington, Kentucky, United States (which was later awarded the following edition of the Games in 2010). Events 16 events in 7 disciplines were held in Aachen. Participating nations 59 National Equestrian Federations sent athletes to the Aachen games. Soers
Soers is a community within Aachen and part of the district of Laurensberg, Aachen-Laurensberg. The predominantly rural district today stretches from the border of Aachen-Mitte, the central district of Aachen, past the slopes of the Lousberg, a hill in the north of the city. It is a wetland that is drained by several rivers. The Wurm drains at out of the area's north end, and is the only drain of the Rur River in the Aachen Basin. Soers is known mainly as a result of the Old Tivoli, the former football stadium of Alemannia Aachen. The area's largely undeveloped nature and its easy access to the Bundesautobahn 4, A4 motorway has caused the community to become further developed in recent years. Aachen Open Air Pop Festival
The Aachen Open Air Pop Festival was a rock festival held at Hauptstadion in Aachen, Germany, on 10–12 July 1970. The "Soersfestival", as it is commonly called, was the initiative of three local students: Golo Goldschmitt, Walter Reiff, and Karl-August Hohmann in particular. As there were many hippies and freaks to be expected from all over Europe, the organisers had to tackle considerable difficulties and hostilities to crack on with the idea. Some 30.-40,000 visitors attended. The Festival was well-organised, the weather was fine and no real problems occurred in spite of a massive and intimidating cop presence. Coca-Cola was the main investor, along with some local entrepreneurs. Tickets cost DM 15,- , or DM 40,- for three days. Hermann Tilke
Hermann Tilke (born 31 December 1954, in Olpe, Germany) is a German engineer, racing driver and circuit designer, who has designed numerous Formula One motor racing circuits. Racing During the 1980s, Tilke competed in touring car racing, mainly on the old Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. He also competed in VLN endurance racing and the 24 Hours Nürburgring. He and Dirk Adorf won some VLN races with a V8Star Series in 2003 and 2004. The horse (''Equus ferus caballus'') is a domesticated, one-toed, hoofed mammal. It belongs to the taxonomic family Equidae and is one of two extant subspecies of ''Equus ferus''.
