Dimitrios Hatzis
Dimitrios Hatzis ( el, Δημήτριος Χατζής, 13 November 1913 – 20 July 1981) was a Greek novelist and journalist. Hatzis was born in Ioannina (Epirus) northwestern Greece, the son of the author and journalist, Georgios Hatzis. He graduated from the Zosimaia school in his home land. In 1930, after the death of his father, he succeeded him as director of the newspaper ''Epirus''. In 1932-1934 he was influenced by Marxist ideologies and joined the Communist Party of Greece. In 1936 he was arrested by the regime of Ioannis Metaxas for communist activity. Hatzis got involved in the Greek Civil War (1946-1949), where he joined the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE). Guido Hatzis is a Greek-Australian comic character created by Australian comedians Tony Moclair and Julian Schiller and voiced by Moclair. Guido appeared originally on Schiller and Moclair's radio program "Crud" on the Australian Radio Network Triple M. Most of Guido's comedy involves making prank calls that are usually centred on outrageous claims about his looks and abilities, Greek stereotypes, and extreme bluntness. Vasileios Hatzis or Vassileios Chatzis ( el, Βασίλειος Χατζής, 1870 – 1915) was a Greek painter who was best known for his seascapes. Life Vasileios Hatzis was born in 1870 in Kastoria. His family was involved in shipping, and he spent his childhood in Patras. From 1886 to 1893 he studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Nikiforos Lytras and Konstantinos Volanakis. During the Balkan Wars of 1912–13 the government assigned him to the navy, where he portrayed action scenes of the Greek fleet. He died in Athens in 1915. Work Hatzis is primarily known for his seascapes, but also painted landscapes and genre scenes from the life of farmers and fishermen. His work includes both academic and en plein air styles.
