Hattorioceros
''Hattorioceros'' is a genus of hornworts belonging to the family Anthocerotaceae. Only one species is known, ''Hattorioceros striatisporus'' (J Haseg.) J.Haseg. The genus name of ''Hattorioceros'' is in honour of Sinsuke (or ''Sinske'' and ''Shinsuke'') Hattori (1915-1992), who was a Japanese botanist (Bryology) and Professor of Botany at the University of Tokyo. Hornworts are a group of non-vascular Embryophytes (land plants) constituting the division Anthocerotophyta (). The common name refers to the elongated horn-like structure, which is the sporophyte. As in mosses and liverworts, hornworts have a gametophyte-dominant life cycle, in which cells of the plant carry only a single set of genetic information; the flattened, green plant body of a hornwort is the gametophyte stage of the plant. Hornworts may be found worldwide, though they tend to grow only in places that are damp or humid. Some species grow in large numbers as tiny weeds in the soil of gardens and cultivated fields. Circumscription (taxonomy)
In biological taxonomy, circumscription is the content of a taxon, that is, the delimitation of which subordinate taxa are parts of that taxon. If we determine that species X, Y, and Z belong in Genus A, and species T, U, V, and W belong in Genus B, those are our circumscriptions of those two genera. Another systematist might determine that T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z all belong in genus A. Agreement on circumscriptions is not governed by the Codes of Zoological or Botanical Nomenclature, and must be reached by scientific consensus. Jiro Hasegawa
Jiro is the registered name used by Sun Microsystems for an extension to Java and Jini. Jiro as an industry initiative, along with an EMC initiative called "Wide Sky" were catalysts in the late nineties for a common interface to storage devices, leading to the Bluefin specification, subsequently donated to the SNIA for the foundation of the SMI-S industry standard.
