Hastings—Peterborough was a provincial electoral district represented in the Ontario Legislature from 1975 to 1999. It was located in the province of Ontario. This riding was created in 1975 from parts of Hastings and Peterborough East ridings. It was an approximate duplication of the federal electoral district of Hastings—Peterborough. It was initially defined, federally, as consisting of the part of the county of Peterborough lying east of and including the townships of Anstruther, Burleigh, Dummer and Asphodel; and the part of the county of Hastings lying north of and including the townships of Rawdon, Huntingdon, Madoc and Elzevir. Wollaston is an incorporated township (Canada), township in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. The township had a population of 670 in the Canada 2016 Census. Property taxes provide the primary source of income for the township accounting for 61% of the revenue required to balance the 2017 budget. Another major source of revenue for the township was provincial funding via thOntario Municipality Partnership Fund(OMPF) which provided approximately 80% of non-tax revenue. The Township's mayor Brandon Carter has stood behind the fund since it was first introduced, and has gone on record stating " This fund keeps the town alive". This revenue provides the income to fund municipal programs. Harry Danford
Harry Danford (born ) is a Canadian former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 1999. Background Danford worked as a farmer before entering politics, and was a member of the Hastings County Milk and Holstein Clubs. Politics He was a member of the Rawdon council from 1982 to 1984 and served as Reeve and Warden of Hastings County from 1982 to 1994. In the 1995 provincial election, Danford defeated incumbent NDP candidate Elmer Buchanan by 7,859 votes in the riding of Hastings—Peterborough. He was a backbench supporter of Mike Harris's government for the next four years, and served as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Agriculture and Food for this entire period. Huntingdon And Peterborough
Huntingdon and Peterborough was a short-lived administrative and geographical county in East Anglia in the United Kingdom. It existed from 1965 to 1974, when it became part of Cambridgeshire. Formation The Local Government Act 1888 created four small neighbouring administrative counties in the east of England: Cambridgeshire, Isle of Ely, Huntingdonshire and the Soke of Peterborough. Following the Second World War, a Local Government Boundary Commission was formed to review county-level administration in England and Wales. The commission was of the opinion that counties needed to have a population of between 200,000 and one million in order to provide effective services. Accordingly, they recommended the amalgamation of all four counties into a single entity. The commission's recommendations were not carried out, however. Peterborough ( ) is a city on the Otonabee River in Ontario, Canada, about 125 kilometres (78 miles) northeast of Toronto.
