Hasselblad Masters Award
Hasselblad Masters Award is an bi-annual award granted by the camera company Hasselblad to selected photographers each year across various specialties in recognition of exceptional accomplishment through photography. While its sister prize, the Hasselblad Award, is managed by the Hasselblad Foundation, the Hasselblad Masters Award and its book publishing and touring exhibition projects are overseen directly by the company's senior executive committee. Overview "The Hasselblad Masters Award is among the most prestigious in the industry, honoring the best in both established and rising photographic talent." Entries are usually invited the month of May in the previous, and the finalist as announced late in the year, subsequently the winners are announced in the month of January. Hasselblad
Victor Hasselblad AB is a Swedish manufacturer of medium format cameras, photographic equipment and image scanners based in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company originally became known for its classic analog medium-format cameras that used a waist-level viewfinder. Perhaps the most famous use of the Hasselblad camera was during the Apollo program missions when the first humans landed on the Moon. Almost all of the still photographs taken during these missions used modified Hasselblad cameras. In 2016, Hasselblad introduced the world's first digital compact mirrorless medium-format camera, the X1D-50c, changing the portability of medium-format photography. Mary Ellen Mark
Mary Ellen Mark (March 20, 1940 – May 25, 2015) was an American photographer known for her photojournalism, documentary photography, portraiture, and advertising photography. She photographed people who were "away from mainstream society and toward its more interesting, often troubled fringes". Mark had 18 collections of her work published, most notably ''Streetwise'' and ''Ward 81''. Her work was exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide and widely published in ''Life'', ''Rolling Stone'', ''The New Yorker'', ''New York Times'', and '' Vanity Fair''. Lyle Owerko is a filmmaker and photographer whose work has ranged from Sundance Channel to ''Time'' to MTV. His photos are collected by many business, entertainment and celebrity clients. Louie Palu (born 1968) is a Canadian documentary photographer and filmmaker known for covering social-political issues, including war and human rights. His first major body of work was ''Cage Call: Life and Death in the Hard Rock Mining Belt'' with writer Charlie Angus, followed by working for ''The Globe and Mail'' for 6 years as a staff photographer (2001–2007). Hans Neleman (born 30 May 1960, Vlaardingen) is a Dutch-born international photographer and film director who lives in Connecticut and working in New York City. He is also the founder of boutique stock photography agency Win-initiative and its promotional magazine, WINk. Tarun Khiwal (born 1965) is an Indian fashion and commercial photographer. Lois Greenfield (born April 18, 1949) is an American photographer best known for her unique approach to photographing the human form in motion. Born in New York City, she attended Hunter College Elementary School, the Fieldston School, and Brandeis University.
