Hassan Abbaspour
Hassan Abbaspour ( fa, حسن عباسپور, September 29, 1944 in Tehran – June 28, 1981) was an Iranian politician who served as the minister of energy from 1979 to 1981. Abbaspour was assassinated along with more than 70 members of the Islamic Republic Party on 28 June 1981. Ministry Of Energy (Iran)
Ministry of Energy ( fa, وزارت نیرو ''Vezârat-e Niru''), Government regulates and manages the implementation of policies applicable to energy, electricity, water and wastewater services in Iran. History and profile Developed on 17 October 1936 (before the current constitution of Iran (1979)), the ministry was established to provide electricity to the city of Tehran. On 20 May 1943 (before the current constitution of Iran (1979)), its portfolio was expanded to include water management in the country. It was later renamed as the ministry of water and electricity on 17 March 1964. Later on 17 February 1975, after the parliamentary approval it became the ministry of energy. On 10 May 1978, under energy minister Jahanguir Mahdmina, the ministry's function was expanded to contain the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in the country. Islamic Republic Party
The Islamic Republican Party (IRP; fa, حزب جمهوری اسلامی, Ḥezb-e Jomhūrī-e Eslāmī, also translated Islamic Republic Party) formed in 1979 to assist the Iranian Revolution and Ayatollah Khomeini establish theocracy in Iran. It was disbanded in 1987 due to internal conflicts. Founders and characteristics The party was formed just two weeks following the revolution upon the request of Ayatollah Khomeini. Five cofounders of the party were Mohammad Javad Bahonar, Mohammad Beheshti, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Ali Khamenei, and Abdolkarim Mousavi-Ardabili. Early members of the central committee of the party, in addition to founding members, were Hassan Ayat, Asadollah Badamchiyan, Abdullah Jasbi, Mir Hossein Mousavi, Habibollah Askar Oladi, Sayyed Mahmoud Kashani, Mahdi Araghi and Ali Derakhshan. On 28 June 1981 (7 Tir 1360 in the Iranian calendar; fa, هفت تیر, ), a powerful bomb went off at the headquarters of the Islamic Republican Party (IRP) in Tehran, while a meeting of party leaders was in progress. Seventy-four leading officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran were killed, including Chief Justice Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti, who was the second most powerful figure in the Iranian Revolution (after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini). The Iranian government first blamed SAVAK and the Iraqi regime. Two days later, on 30 June, the People's Mujahedin of Iran was finally accused by Khomeini. Several non-Iranian sources also believe the bombing was conducted by the People's Mujahedin of Iran.
