Oligoryzomys Nigripes
''Oligoryzomys nigripes'', also known as the black-footed colilargo or the black-footed pygmy rice rat, is a rodent in the genus ''Oligoryzomys'' of family Cricetidae. Oligoryzomys nigripes is a species that has been further divided into different sister taxa throughout history. It is found in different countries in South America.Weksler, M. & Bonvicino, C.R. 2005. Taxonomy of pygmy rice rats genus ''Oligoryzomys'' Bangs, 1900 (Rodentia, Sigmodontinae) of the Brazilian Cerrado, with the description of two new species. Arquivos do Museu Nacional 63(1):119. It is a large species with long ears, dark yellow to dark brown upperparts, sharply delimited from the whitish underparts, and often a pink girdle on the chest. This species of rat spends much of its life among the trees. The karyotype is 2n = 62, FNa = 78–82. Synonym species Two other species, '' Oligoryzomys delticola'' (also known as the delta pygmy rice rat or the large colilargo) and '' Oligoryzomys eliurus'' (also kn ...

''Hassalstrongylus forresteri'' is a nematode worm of the genus ''Hassalstrongylus'' that infects the marsh rice rat (''Oryzomys palustris'') in the United States. It was first described as ''Hassalstrongylus musculi'' by Marie-Claude Durette-Desset in 1972, but she later recognized it as a different species, ''H. forresteri''. Akodon Cursor
The cursor grass mouse or cursorial akodont (''Akodon cursor''), is a sigmodontine rodent from South America. Description The cursor grass mouse is a moderately sized rodent, with a head-body length of , and a tail long. Males are larger than females, weighing an average of , compared with for females. They have a typical mouse-like appearance, with short whiskers and stubby claws on the feet. They have dark to golden brown fur over most of their body, with paler greyish or yellowish underparts. Some have a whitish spot between the ears, but this is not present on all individuals. Cursor grass mice are members of the ''A. cursor'' species group, and very similar in appearance to other members of the group. In particular, they cannot easily be distinguished from the closely related montane grass mouse, which inhabits neighbouring regions to the immediate south. Although the cursor grass mouse is, on average, slightly larger than the montane species, there is too much overlap for ...

Nectomys Squamipes
''Nectomys squamipes'', also known as the Atlantic Forest nectomys, South American water rat, or scaly-footed water rat, is a semiaquatic insectivorous rodent species. It is from Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay — found primarily near forest rivers and streams in the Atlantic Forest ecoregion. Description ''Nectomys squamipes'', or the South American water rat can be distinguished from other Sigmodontinae based on their size and morphology of their hindfeet. They are the largest of the family (average of 216g) and have long hind legs with partially webbed feet to aid in swimming and have completely scaled heels. ''Nectomys'' is derived from Greek words meaning "mouse" and "swimming". One unique morphological characteristic is the distinct primitive cuspidate pattern of their cheekteeth, which have hypsodont molars, teeth crowned earlier in life and the outer fold of the upper molars tend to be more isolated as enamel islands. The ''Nectomys squamipe'' tends to have relativel ...

Oryzomyini
Oryzomyini is a tribe of rodents in the subfamily Sigmodontinae of the family Cricetidae. It includes about 120 species in about thirty genera,Weksler et al., 2006, table 1 distributed from the eastern United States to the southernmost parts of South America, including many offshore islands. It is part of the clade Oryzomyalia, which includes most of the South American Sigmodontinae. The name ''Oryzomyini'' derives from that of its type genus, ''Oryzomys'', which means "rice rat" or "rice mouse". Many species are also known as rice rats. Taxonomy Contents of Oryzomyini An oryzomyine group was first envisaged by Oldfield Thomas in the early 20th century. He defined it to include pentalophodont species, which have a mesoloph(id) on the upper and lower molars, with a long palate (extending past the third molars). Thomas included ''Oligoryzomys'', ''Oecomys'', and ''Oryzomys'' (which included many species now in other genera), as well as '' Rhagomys'', which is currently classified ...
