Hass (band)
Hass is a German punk band founded in 1978 in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Members are from the cities of Marl and Recklinghausen. Their music is categorized as Deutschpunk, and the lyrics are generally politically motivated. Hass is known for their anti-fascist position, exemplified in the song ''Lasst die Glatzen platzen'' (English translation: "Let the skin-heads break open"). They have released ten full-length albums, three EPs, and four singles. History As a band founded in 1978, Hass is one of the first Deutschpunk bands. Their debut album ''Hass allein genügt nicht mehr'' was released in 1981 by H’Art Musik. The original band line-up was: Steffi Syndikati (vocals), Peter "Hecktor" Blümer (guitar), Jan Ostblock (bass), and Bertie Klompenhouver "B.A.P." (drums). Marl
Marl is an earthy material rich in carbonate minerals, clays, and silt. When hardened into rock, this becomes marlstone. It is formed in marine or freshwater environments, often through the activities of algae. Marl makes up the lower part of the cliffs of Dover, and the Channel Tunnel follows these marl layers between France and the United Kingdom. Marl is also a common sediment in post-glacial lakes, such as the marl ponds of the northeastern United States. Marl has been used as a soil conditioner and neutralizing agent for acid soil and in the manufacture of cement. Description Marl or marlstone is a carbonate-rich mud or mudstone which contains variable amounts of clays and silt. The term was originally loosely applied to a variety of materials, most of which occur as loose, earthy deposits consisting chiefly of an intimate mixture of clay and calcium carbonate, formed under freshwater conditions. Rio Reiser
Ralph Christian Möbius (9 January 1950 – 20 August 1996), known professionally as Rio Reiser, was a German musician and the singer of rock group Ton Steine Scherben. He supported squatting in the early 1970s and later the green political party Die Grünen. After the German reunification, he joined the Party of Democratic Socialism. Life His father was an engineer for Siemens AG, and the family moved several times because of his father's work; they lived in West Berlin, Upper Bavaria, Nuremberg, Mannheim, and Fellbach. Reiser was never really able to feel at home in any of these places. Many of his friends said, when they were asked in an interview which was broadcast on the TV channel Arte in 1998, two years after his death, that he started playing music to create a place where he felt at home. Accordion
Accordions (from 19th-century German ''Akkordeon'', from ''Akkord''—"musical chord, concord of sounds") are a family of box-shaped musical instruments of the bellows-driven free-reed aerophone type (producing sound as air flows past a reed in a frame), colloquially referred to as a squeezebox. A person who plays the accordion is called an accordionist. The concertina , harmoneon and bandoneón are related. The harmonium and American reed organ are in the same family, but are typically larger than an accordion and sit on a surface or the floor. The accordion is played by compressing or expanding the bellows while pressing buttons or keys, causing ''pallets'' to open, which allow air to flow across strips of brass or steel, called '' reeds''. Knochenfabrik
Knochenfabrik (lit. Bone Factory) is a German punk band that existed between 1994 and 1998 and reunited in 2008. Knochenfabrik formed in its earliest lineup in Cologne, Germany in early 1994 with Claus Lüer (guitar, vocals), Achim Lauber (drums) and Gagi Ilic (bass, vocals). Later in 1996 Gagi left the band and was replaced by Hasan Onay. During the period between 1996 and the ultimate disbanding in 1998, the released two LPs, ''Ameisenstaat'' and ''Cooler Parkplatz'' and two EPs ''Elvis'' & ''Kaufehlermessung''. In 2001 a German punk label released a compilation with the best-known Knochenfabrik songs and some live songs, the compilation was titled ''Deutschmark muss sterben''. In 2008, the band reunited after 10 years, 3 years later, the band's first album since ''Cooler Parkplatz'' was released, it was titled ''Grüne Haare 2.0'' (lit. Green Hair 2.0). Recklinghausen
Recklinghausen (; Westphalian: ''Riäkelhusen'') is the northernmost city in the Ruhr-Area and the capital of the Recklinghausen district. It borders the rural Münsterland and is characterized by large fields and farms in the north and industry in the south.
