Reginald Haskins
Reginald H. Haskins (July 16, 1916 - March 17, 1999) was a Canadian mycologist. Born in North Bay, Ontario, Haskins trained as a botanist, specializing in mycology, receiving his master's degree from the University of Western Ontario and his doctorate degree from Harvard University in 1949. He lived with his wife and three children in Saskatoon, Canada. Scientific career Haskins was appointed in 1948 as one of the first research scientists at the Prairie Regional Laboratory (now the Plant Biotechnology Institute) of the National Research Council Canada, Saskatoon, and was a Section Head in the institute starting in 1950. In 1952, he started a fungal culture collection (with the official acronym PRL), mostly of industrially relevant fungi, which eventually included > 1200 strains. Minnie Louise Haskins (12 May 1875 – 3 February 1957) was a British poet and an academic in the field of sociology, best known for being quoted by King George VI in his Royal Christmas Message of 1939. Early life Haskins was born at 2 Kingswood Hill, Oldland, South Gloucestershire, six miles east of Bristol, and she grew up in the neighbouring village of Warmley. Her father was Joseph Haskins, a grocer, and her mother was Louisa Bridges. Her father acquired a pottery at Warmley making drain pipes, which was continued after his death by her mother. The family lived at Warmley House. She was a Congregationalist and she taught Sunday School for many years. She studied informally at University College, Bristol while undertaking voluntary work for her local church. Kevin Michael Dompe (born 19 July 1960), born and best-known as Kevin Michael Haskins, is an English drummer, best known from the British rock group Bauhaus. He was also a member of Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets. Early career As a child, Kevin Haskins banged on flowerpots and kitchen pots and pans. He eventually moved to bongos and then to drums. It wasn't until Haskins attended a Sex Pistols gig, that he and his brother David J formed a band called the Submerged Tenth.
