Hasina (film)
''Hasina'' is a 2004 Kannada-language film by Girish Kasaravalli.The lead actress, Tara (Kannada actress), Taara, won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as Hasina about the story of a Muslim Indian woman deserted by her husband. Synopsis The film, based on the story ''Kari Nagaragalu'' by Kannada writer Banu Mushtaq, looks at Hasina (Taara) who marries auto driver Yakub (Chandrahas Ullal) against his mother's wishes. The couple have three daughters the visually impaired Munni, Shubby and Habeeb. Pregnant with their fourth child, the couple break social codes and do a pregnancy scan to ascertain the baby's gender. When Yakub realises it is yet another girl, he becomes at turns abusive and neglectful, eventually leaving Hasina to fend for herself. Girish Kasaravalli
Girish Kasaravalli (born 3 December 1950) is an Indian film director, in the Kannada cinema, and one of the pioneers of the Parallel Cinema. Known internationally for his works, Kasaravalli has garnered fourteen National Film Awards, including four Best Feature Films; ''Ghatashraddha'' (1977), '' Tabarana Kathe'' (1986), ''Thaayi Saheba'' (1997) and ''Dweepa'' (2002). In 2011, he was awarded with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by Government of India. A gold medalist from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, The film he made to fulfill his diploma, ''Avashesh'', was awarded the Best Student Film and the National Film Award for Best Short Fiction Film for that year. Karnataka State Film Awards
Karnataka State Film Awards are the most notable and prestigious film awards given for Kannada film industry in Karnataka, India. These are considered the highest awards for Kannada language films. They are given annually by the Government of Karnataka to honor the best talent and to provide encouragement and incentive to the Kannada film industry. Anuradha (born 4 March 1971), known by her stage name Tara, is an Indian actress, known for her work in Kannada cinema and politics. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2009 and is currently a nominated member of the Karnataka Legislative Council. Tara made her debut in film in 1984 with the Tamil film ''Ingeyum Oru Gangai''. Her Kannada film debut came in 1986 with ''Thulasidala'' and has since portrayed many author-backed roles. The 52nd National Film Awards, presented by Directorate of Film Festivals, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India to felicitate the best of Indian Cinema released in the year 2004.
