Cecil Hartt
Cecil Lawrence Hartt (15 July 1884 – ''c''. 17 May 1930) was an Australian cartoonist and caricaturist. As a wartime artist, he popularised the concept of the Australian digger as independent, easy-going and disrespectful of authority, with a sardonic attitude to life. He was the first artist to be employed by ''Smith's Weekly'' in 1919, continuing in that role until his death in 1930. Over his career Hartt produced a large number of cartoons on a broad range of subjects and themes; his drawings encompassed political, social and military topics and were admired for their observational humour and the quality of his character portraits. He mainly drew single-panel cartoons, but his body of work also includes early examples of Australian comic strips. Stanley Herbert Hartt, (11 November 1937 – 3 January 2018) was a Canadian lawyer, lecturer, businessman, and civil servant. He was Chief of Staff to Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney from 1989 to 1990. Early life and education Hartt was born in Montreal, Quebec to Maurice Hartt, a Quebec MNA and MP, and brother of the late Joel Hartt (1940–2009). He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1958, a Master of Arts degree in 1961, and a Bachelor of Civil Law degree in 1963 from McGill University. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1965 and created a Queen's Counsel in 1984. Charles Frederick Hartt
Charles Frederick Hartt (23 August 1840 in Fredericton, New Brunswick – 18 March 1878) was a Canadian-American geologist, paleontologist and naturalist who specialized in the geology of Brazil. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Hartt graduated from Acadia College in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, in 1860, and by his graduation he had made extensive geological explorations in Nova Scotia. In 1860, he accompanied his father, Jarvis William Hartt, to Saint John, New Brunswick, where they established a high school for young women in which Charles Frederick taught for a year. Hartt also studied the geology of New Brunswick, and devoted special attention to the Devonian shales, in which he discovered an abundance of land plants and insects. Dale Edward Hartt (born April 4, 1979) is an American mixed martial artist, who is perhaps best known for his three fight stint in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Frederick Hartt (1914–1991) was an Italian Renaissance scholar, author and professor of art history. His books include ''History of Italian Renaissance Art'', '' Art: A History of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture ''(two volumes), ''Michelangelo (Masters of Art Series)'', ''The Sistine Chapel'' and ''The Renaissance in Italy and Spain (Metropolitan Museum of Art Series)''. Reginald Hartt (born June 12, 1946) is a film archivist in Toronto, Ontario. He is known for his stagings of historical and contemporary films at his 40-seat theatre, The Cineforum. Career Beginning in 1965, Hartt originally screened his films in rented locations. These included the Bathurst Street Church and the Spadina Hotel, as well as Sneaky Dee's, Rochdale College, and locations on Queen Street West and Mirvish Village. From 1970 to 1975, he served as Director of Cinema Studies at Toronto's Rochdale College. He has lectured at art galleries, colleges, museums, schools, theatres, and universities across Canada and in the United States. Maurice Hartt, (April 15, 1895 – March 15, 1950) was a Romanian-born Canadian politician. Born in Dorohoi, Romania, the son of Saul Hartt and Malia Segal, he immigrated to Canada when he was twelve. He studied law at Queen's University and was called to the Quebec Bar in 1935. He was created a King's Counsel in 1942 and practiced law in Montreal. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in the riding of Montréal–Saint-Louis in 1939. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1944. He resigned in 1947, when he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the riding of Cartier in a 1947 by-election called when Fred Rose's seat was declared vacant by a resolution of the House of Commons.
