Hartselle City School District
Hartselle City Schools is a school district, established in 1975, serving the student populations of Hartselle, Alabama, and portions of Morgan County, Alabama. The district serves more than 3,100 students with three elementary schools (Barkley Bridge Elementary, Crestline Elementary, and F.E. Burleson Elementary) serving kindergarten through the fourth grade, an intermediate school (Hartselle Intermediate High School) for fifth and sixth graders, a junior high school (Hartselle Junior High School) and Hartselle High School (formerly Morgan County High School) for ninth through twelfth grades. On April 1, 2013, the high school relocated to a new 50-acre campus at 1000 Bethel Road. Barkley Bridge Elementary School was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program in 2011. Hartselle, Alabama
Hartselle is the second largest city in Morgan County, Alabama, United States, south of Decatur. It is part of the Decatur Metropolitan Area and the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 15,455. Hartselle was founded in 1869 with the arrival of the South and North Alabama Railroad. It takes its name from George Hartselle, one of the railroad's owners. The post office opened in 1873. It was formally incorporated on March 1, 1875. Most of the oldest buildings were destroyed by a disastrous fire in 1916. Geography Hartselle is located in western Morgan County at (34.440383, -86.940385). Vickie Orr
Victoria Elaine "Vickie" Orr (born February 25, 1967) is an American retired women's basketball player. She was a member of the United States women's national basketball team during the late 1980s and the early 1990s, collecting two medals during her international career. Born in Hartselle, Alabama, Orr played college basketball for Auburn University. In May 2013, she was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), based in Montgomery, is the governing body for interscholastic athletics and activities programs for public schools in Alabama. The AHSAA is a member National Federation of State High School Associations since 1924. The AHSAA merged with the Alabama Interscholastic Athletic Association in 1968, forming one high school athletic association for the State of Alabama in accordance with a court order relating to athletics. The AIAA had previously governed athletics at segregated African-American schools.
