Hartford Hawks Baseball
The Hartford Hawks baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of the University of Hartford, located in West Hartford, Connecticut. The program had been a member of the NCAA Division I America East Conference from 1985 to 2022. It has played home games at Fiondella Field since the venue opened at the start of the 2006 season. History The Hartford Art School, Hartt College of Music, and Hillyer College merged to create the University of Hartford in February 1957. It began operation for the 1957–1958 school year. Although some Hartford athletic programs, such as men's basketball, trace their history to the teams of Hillyer College, records for the baseball program begin with the 1958 season. Jeff Bagwell
Jeffrey Robert Bagwell (born May 27, 1968) is an American former professional baseball first baseman and coach who spent his entire 15-year Major League Baseball (MLB) playing career with the Houston Astros. Originally a Boston Red Sox fourth-round selection from the University of Hartford in the 1989 amateur draft, Bagwell was traded to the Astros in 1990. Bagwell was named the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year in 1991 and won the NL Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in 1994. Bagwell and longtime Astros second baseman Craig Biggio were known as the " Killer B's", and the team experienced consistent success during their careers; Houston finished in first or second place in the NL Central division in eleven of twelve seasons from 1994 to 2005. North Atlantic Conference
The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) is an athletic conference, affiliated with the NCAA ’s Division III, consisting primarily of small liberal arts colleges in the Northern New England states of Maine and Vermont, as well as New York. The conference was founded in 1996 when six colleges agreed to form the North Atlantic Women's Conference. It changed to its current name in the fall of 1999. It currently sponsors a total of 17 men's and women's sports played by teams of the 13 institutions therein. The 17 different sports that are played in the NAC range from the fall season, throughout the winter, and to the spring season. These sports are played among both men's and women's teams. Dan Gooley
Dan Gooley is an American college baseball coach, formerly the head coach of Quinnipiac (1977–1987, 2002–2014) and Hartford (1988–1992). Gooley retired following the 2014 season. Gooley played baseball at Quinnipiac and served as an assistant coach at Quinnipiac from 1971 to 1976. Prior to the start of the 1977 season, Gooley was named Quinnipiac's head coach. Quinnipiac, then a Division II program, reached three NCAA Division II Tournaments and one Division II College World Series under Gooley. In the summer of 1977, he skippered the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Gooley left Quinnipiac following the 1987 season to serve as the head coach at Division I Hartford. In five seasons as Hartford's head coach, he had a record of 101-90-1. After spending several years as a business executive and Quinnipiac administrator, Gooley again became the head coach of Quinnipiac (which had since become a Division I member) for the 2002 season. The Quinnipiac Bobcats baseball team (formerly the Quinnipiac Braves) is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, United States. The team is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. Saint Anselm College is a private Benedictine liberal arts college in Goffstown, New Hampshire. Founded in 1889, it is the third-oldest Catholic college in New England.
