Hartwell is a city in Hart County, Georgia, United States. The population was 4,469 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Hart County. History Hartwell was founded in 1854 as seat of the newly formed Hart County. It was incorporated as a town in 1856 and as a city in 1904. The town was named for Revolutionary War figure Nancy Morgan Hart. Geography Hartwell is located in central Hart County at (34.352738, -82.931161). It sits southwest of Lake Hartwell, which acquired its name from the city. Hartwell is in the Piedmont region of Georgia, or the Upland South, and lies southeast of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at Toccoa. Kaimon Rucker (born February 28, 2002) is an American football linebacker for the North Carolina Tar Heels. High school career Rucker attended Hart County High School in Hartwell, Georgia. Over his final two high school seasons, he had 130 tackles and 15.5 sacks. He committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to play college football. College career As a true freshman at North Carolina in 2020, Rucker played in 10 games with one start and had 21 tackles. As a sophomore in 2021, he started 10 of 13 games, recording 30 tackles and four sacks. As a junior in 2022, he started four of 14 game, finishing with 37 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Grand View University is a private liberal arts university in Des Moines, Iowa. Founded in 1896 and affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the university enrolls approximately 2,000 students and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
