Harry Tavitian
Harry Tavitian (born 11 August 1952) is a Romanian jazz pianist and singer, whose style covers free-jazz, blues, ethno-jazz and avant-garde. Tavitian was born in Constanța to Armenian parents. After attending the Mircea cel Bătrân High School in his native city, he graduated from the Academy of Music in Bucharest. He came to prominence in 1978–1987, when he set up a jazz club, organizing recordings and listening sessions where he presented albums by some of the world's most prominent jazzmen. The club was hosted by Constanța Library, where he was working at the time. He plays piano solo, as well as with the Orient Express septet and with the Black Sea Orchestra. ''Creativ'' is the duo formula with Corneliu Stroe (drums and percussion). Corneliu Stroe
Corneliu Stroe (22 October 1949 – 11 June 2017) was a Romanian drummer and percussionist. Born in Bucharest, he moved at the age of 2 to Mediaș, due to his father's job. He grew up there, and later became a member of several local bands, among them Orfeus. Wolfgang Puschnig
Wolfgang Puschnig (born 21 May 1956 in Klagenfurt, Austria) is an Austrian jazz musician (saxophone, flute, bass clarinet) and composer. Biography After his studies of saxophone and flute at the Vienna Conservatory Puschnig was the founding member of the Vienna Art Orchestra together with Mathias Rüegg in the mid-1970s. Here he was active until 1989. He was also involved in projects with Ernst Jandl involving Lauren Newton. He also played with Hans Koller in the early 1980s, with the quartet 'Air Mail' and 'Saxofour'. Carla Bley brought him into her groups in the mid 1980s. He worked with Wolfgang Mitterer, Uli Scherer, and his longtime partner Linda Sharrock and Jamaaladeen Tacuma in different groups, and also has cooperated with Reinhard Flatischler, Herbert Joos, Christof Lauer, and Michel Godard. Ivo Papasov
Ivo Papazov (or Papasov; bg, Иво Папазов; born 16 February 1952), nicknamed Ibryama (), is a Bulgarian clarinetist. He leads the "Ivo Papazov Wedding Band" in performances of jazz-infused Stambolovo music, and is one of the premier creators of the genre known as "wedding band" music in Bulgaria, along with the violinist Georgi Yanev, saxophonist Yuri Yunakov, clarinetist Neshko Neshev and accordionists Ivan Milev and Peter Ralchev. Together with Emilia they are known as Mames 2001. An orchestra that had great success in the TV show ''Познай кой е под масата'' ("Guess who is under the table"). Hanno Höfer
Hanno Höfer (born 8 July 1967 in Timișoara, Romania) is a Romanian movie director, producer, and musician. Early life and education Höfer was born in Timișoara and is of German-Romanian descent. When he was about one year old, he moved to Bucharest due to his parents' work (his father was a journalist and his mother worked first for a newspaper and later in television), but when their home was damaged in the 1977 earthquake, he returned to the Banat region where he stayed for 4 years at his grandparents' home. Then he went back to Bucharest to attend the German Lyceum. After graduation, he failed the university entrance examination to study foreign languages in Bucharest, so he worked for a while as a translator in Bucharest and then as an actor at the German Theater in Timișoara. Alexander Bălănescu
Alexander Bălănescu () (born 11 June 1954) is a Romanian violinist, and founder of the Balanescu Quartet. Biography Bălănescu was born in Bucharest, and at the age of seven went to the Special School for Music there. His teachers in Romania were Dolly Koritzer, Garabet Avakian and Ștefan Gheorghiu. His studies continued at the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem with Iair Kless, London's Trinity College with Bela Katona, and from 1975-79 at the Juilliard School, New York with Dorothy DeLay, where he also took part in master classes with Pinchas Zukerman, Itzhak Perlman, Felix Galimir and Robert Mann. In 1979 Bălănescu became leader of the Michael Nyman Band and toured with this group around the world for 15 years. During the same period he was also a member of the Gavin Bryars Ensemble.
