Harry J. Stein (born November 25, 1948) is an American author and columnist. , he is a contributing editor to the political magazine ''City Journal''. Biography Stein graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1966 and Pomona College in May 1970. He later graduated from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Stein wrote for '' Ramparts'' and '' New Times'' magazines in the 1970s, and originated '' Esquire'' "Ethics" column in the 1980s. During the 1990s he wrote a column on television ethics for ''TV Guide.'' As part of the New York media scene of the early 1980s he was a member of the inaugural Rotisserie League formed by Daniel Okrent. He is the author of novels and memoirs, including satirical political commentary related to his transition from liberal to conservative viewpoints. Harry Stein (1919–1994) was an Australian communist, jazz enthusiast and writer. Stein was an active member of the Communist Party of Australia until 1968 and worked as a journalist for the party's newspaper. He also played an important role in the early promotion of Australian jazz, jazz music in Australia. The ''Herald Sun, Herald'' once described Stein as a "jazz-crazed Communist whose chief attribute is his ability to talk fluently on anything, at any place, at any time." Harry Stein (born January 20, 1905, in Bytom, than East Prussia; date of death unknown, before 1948) was a German amateur boxing champion in 1922 and 1923 in the flyweight(- 51 kg) and featherweight divisions, who won the BDB German Flyweight Championship in 1925, and the VDF German Featherweight Championship in 1932. He was forced to flee Germany for Prague, Poland in 1933 to escape Nazi persecution, and by the 1940s, he had moved to Russia. Heap (comics)
The Heap is the name of several fictional comic book muck-monsters, the original of which first appeared in Hillman Periodicals' ''Air Fighters Comics'' #3 (cover-dated Dec. 1942), during the period fans and historians call the Golden Age of Comic Books. The Heap was comics' first swamp monster. The character was created by writer Harry Stein and artist Mort Leav, in collaboration with Hillman editor Ed Cronin. Similar but unrelated characters appeared in comics stories published by Skywald in the 1970s and Image Comics in the 1990s. The Heap was revived in the 1980s by Eclipse Comics. Harry Stein is a fictional police officer and secret agent featured in DC Comics. Stein first appeared in ''Vigilante'' #23 (November 1985) and was created by Paul Kupperberg and Tod Smith. Fictional character biography Vigilante Lieutenant Harry Stein is an eighteen-year veteran of the NYPD. His first DCU appearance was in ''Vigilante'' #23 where he is introduced as the head of a police task force operating out of Midtown South.
