Harry Rowe (footballer)
Henry Gordon "Harry" Rowe (2 February 1925 – 1 April 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne and umpired in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A VAFA premiership player with Melbourne High School, Rowe played twice at the Melbourne Football Club over two separate seasons. In 1948 Rowe took up field umpiring with the VFL Second Eighteens (later VFL Reserve Grade) and the following season he was promoted to the VFL senior list. He umpired his first VFL Second Eighteens match in 1950 and in 1951 he was appointed to his first VFL senior match – South Melbourne versus Essendon at the Lake Oval. At the conclusion of this match the crowd hurled various missiles at Rowe but none struck him. Monash Tigers
The Richmond Cricket Club is an Australian cricket club based in Glen Waverley in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. The club plays in the Victorian Premier Cricket Association. Founded in 1854, the Richmond Cricket Club home ground was for most of its history the Richmond Cricket Ground (better known as the Punt Road Oval), a few hundred metres to the east of the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was a founding member of the Victorian District/Premier Cricket competition in 1906/07. In 2011, the club moved its home base from Richmond to Central Reserve in Glen Waverley. It continued to be known as Richmond until the 2012/13 season. From the 2013/14 season until the 2019/20 season, the club traded as the Monash Tigers but legally remained known as the Richmond Cricket Club. Victorian Country Football League
AFL Victoria Country is an Australian rules football governing body with jurisdiction over the state of Victoria outside metropolitan Melbourne on behalf of AFL Victoria. As well as administering and promoting the code in the regions, it often arbitrates disputes in areas such as player clearances and club movements between country leagues, and may also be called upon as a higher authority of appeal. The organisation was formed as a result of a merger between Victorian Country Football League (VCFL) and AFL Victoria in November 2012. The place kick is a type of kicking play commonly used in American football, association football (soccer), Canadian football, rugby league, and rugby union. Gridiron football Place kicks are used in American football and Canadian football for kickoffs, extra points, and field goals. Tony Ongarello
Tony Ongarello (22 December 1932 – 18 July 2022) was an Australian rules footballer of Italian heritage who played with Fitzroy Lions, Fitzroy in the Australian Football League, VFL from 1952 to 1960. He played most of his career at full-forward. Ongarello is believed to be the last player in the VFL/AFL to have scored a goal from a place kick, scoring two goals from the kicks late in Fitzroy's narrow loss to Geelong in 1955 VFL season#Round 4, 1955 at Brunswick Street Oval. He was also the last player to attempt a place kick. Ongarello reportedly switched to the place kicks after missing several consecutive set shots from Punt (Australian football), punt kicks in the game.
