Henry Douglas Morgan (16 September 1889 – 10 December 1956) was an Australian rules footballer who played senior football in three different Australian states. Biography Born in Irishtown, a small locality north of Northam, Western Australia, Morgan moved to Perth in the late 1900s, where he began playing for the Cottesloe Football Club in the second-rate West Australian Football Association (WAFA), a precursor to the present Claremont Football Club. In 1910, he transferred to the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), and spent most of his time at either half back or as a centreman. The 1914 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Carlton Football Club and South Melbourne Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 26 September 1914. It was the 17th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1914 VFL season. The match, attended by 30,495 spectators, was won by Carlton by a margin of 6 points, marking that club's fourth premiership victory. In a dramatic last minute, with South Melbourne trailing by six points, the ball was kicked into their forward 50.
