Harry Hickey
Henry Robert Hickey (19 July 1917 – 14 September 1999) was an Australian rules footballer who played with the Footscray Bulldogs in the Victorian Football League. He began his career as a rover and half forward flanker before he moved into the centre during the 1939 season. He would go on to win their best and fairest 3 times, including one in his final season. Hickey famously kicked a behind after the final bell in Footscray's match against in the final round of the 1944 VFL season, which saw Footscray win the game by one point, and replace Carlton for the last place in that season's final four. Hickey also played representative football for Victoria. Rochester Football Club
The Rochester Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Tigers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club, formed at a meeting held on 8 June 1874 at Tidy's Restdown Hotel. The club was formed with the purpose of soon "playing and beating Echuca". An intense rivalry that has endured ever since regardless of which competition each was playing in. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. 1944 VFL Season
The 1944 VFL season was the 48th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. All twelve of the league's clubs competed, with returning after two years in recess due to wartime travel restrictions. The season ran from 6 May until 30 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Fitzroy Football Club for the eighth and final time in its history, after it defeated by 15 points in the VFL Grand Final.
