Harry Frauca
Harry Frauca (14 October 1928 – 1986) was an Australian naturalist, writer and photographer. Of Catalan origin, he was born in Spain and educated in Denmark and England. He moved to Australia in the 1950s and became an Australian citizen. From 1960 he became a full-time writer and photographer on natural history, contributing with his wife to such publications as ''Walkabout''. From 1970 he collected insects for the Australian National Insect Collection. The last years of his life were spent in Bundaberg, Queensland with his wife Claudia. He died in 1979. He has been honoured in the name of the Harry Frauca Walkway, a walkway at Baldwin Swamp, Bundaberg, as well as the Harry Frauca Walking Track and Harry Frauca Information Panel at the Mount Walsh National Park, Biggenden. Walkabout Magazine
''Walkabout'' was an Australian illustrated magazine published from 1934 to 1974 (and again in 1978) combining cultural, geographic, and scientific content with travel literature. Initially a travel magazine, in its forty-year run it featured a popular mix of articles by travellers, officials, residents, journalists, naturalists, anthropologists and novelists, illustrated by Australian photojournalists. Its title derived "from the supposed 'racial characteristic of the Australian Aboriginal who is always on the move." Biggenden is a rural town and locality in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Biggenden had a population of 845 people. Geography Biggenden is on the Isis Highway north-west of the state capital Brisbane, and west of Maryborough. History The name is derived from the Kabi word ''bigindhan'' meaning a ''place of stringybark''. Biggenden was founded in 1889 as a service centre to the short-lived goldrush towns of Paradise and Shamrock; and for coach passengers travelling west from Maryborough. The township, including the intriguingly named ''Live And Let Live Inn'', moved to a new location alongside the railway station when the rail line arrived in 1891. Mount Walsh National Park
Mount Walsh is a national park in Queensland, Australia, northwest of Brisbane. A prominent landmark in the Biggenden region is the granite bluff area of Mount Walsh which rises to above sea level in the northern part of park. The summit has three peaks. Exposed granite outcrops, rugged ridges and steep forested slopes support a range of vegetation. The "Bluff" area of Mount Walsh is located at the park's northern end and is a prominent landmark of the Biggenden area. The park features sheltered gullies, rugged ridge lines with mountain areas with spectacular exposed granite outcrops and cliffs support a diversity of vegetation.
