Harry E. Turner Sr. (December 25, 1927 – July 27, 2004) served in the Ohio House of Representatives. Kenneth Creasy
Kenneth Burton Creasy (October 7, 1932 – June 16, 1992) was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. Early life Kenneth B. Creasy grew up in Turkey Creek, Kentucky, the oldest son of a coal miner. In 1940 his family moved to Delaware, Ohio so his father, John Samuel Creasy, could take advantage of factory work in Central Ohio. His mother, Pauline Hammond Creasy, worked briefly as a court recorder in Union County, Kentucky, where her father was a judge. The economic difference between Pauline and John posed a problem for Pauline's father; the couple secretly wed in 1931, and made the marriage public only after Pauline became pregnant with Kenneth a year later. The extended Creasy family's experience in the coal mines, including the death of Kenneth's grandfather in a mine collapse, led to his lifelong interest in improving conditions for coal miners and their communities, in education, and in assisting children caught in the poverty cycle. Thomas A. Van Meter (April 22, 1943 – March 7, 1992) was a member of the Ohio General Assembly. He served in the Ohio Senate from 1973 to 1982, representing the 19th District. Ohio House Of Representatives
The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Members are limited to four successive two-year elected terms (terms are considered successive if they are separated by less than four years). Time served by appointment to fill out another representative's uncompleted term does not count against the term limit. There are 99 members in the house, elected from single-member districts. Mount Vernon, Ohio
Mount Vernon is a city in Knox County, Ohio, United States. It is located northeast of Columbus. The population was 16,990 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County. History The community was platted in 1805, and named after Mount Vernon, the estate owned by George Washington. In May 1953, the telephone exchange for the entire city was destroyed by fire, disrupting calls for months. In January 1959, a severe flood caused 500 homes to be evacuated and caused $5 million in damage. In October of 2021, a board of clergy and activists unanimously voted to start a chapter of PFLAG in Mount Vernon. PFLAG will be the second LGBTQ+ organization formed in Knox County.
