Harry Cunningham (footballer)
Harry Cunningham (born 6 December 1993) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the club with pick 93 overall in the 2012 Rookie draft, before being promoted to the senior list in 2012. Elevated from the rookie list prior to the 2012 season, Cunningham made his debut in the inaugural Sydney Derby, Round 1, against . In Round 15, 2014 Cunningham was awarded a nomination for the 2014 AFL Rising Star for his efforts against the GWS Giants. Wagga Wagga (; informally called Wagga) is a major regional city in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. The 2016 AFL season was the 120th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 24 March until 1 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. AFL Rising Star
The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year. The award was sponsored by Norwich Union Australia from its inception in 1993 until 2000. The AFL then secured a six-year sponsorship deal with Ansett Australia in 2001, that included the Rising Star award; however, this agreement only lasted the one season following the collapse of Ansett in September 2001. McClelland Trophy
The McClelland Trophy is an Australian rules football trophy which has been awarded each year since 1951 by the Australian Football League (known prior to 1990 as the Victorian Football League) to the best-performing club in the home-and-away season. Between 1951 and 1990, the Trophy was presented to the club with the highest aggregate points across the three grades of competition - seniors, Reserves and Under-19s - with senior wins carrying a higher value. After the AFL announced that the Under-19s competition would be shut down at the end of the 1991 season, to be replaced with an Under-18s competition independent of the AFL clubs, the Trophy has been presented to the club finishing the AFL home-and-away season on top of the ladder, thus merging the Trophy with the minor premiership.
