Harrow, London
Harrow () is a large town in Greater London, England, and serves as the principal settlement of the London Borough of Harrow. Lying about north-west of Charing Cross and south of Watford, the entire town including its localities had a population of 149,246 at the 2011 census, whereas the wider borough (which also contains Pinner and Stanmore) had a population of 250,149. The historic centre of Harrow was atop the Harrow Hill. The modern town of Harrow grew out at the foot of the settlement, in what was historically called Greenhill. With the arrival of the Metropolitan Railway in the 19th century, the centre of Harrow moved to Greenhill and it grew as the unofficial "capital" of the Metroland suburbia in the early 20th century; Harrow-on-the-Hill station is on one of the railway corridors between London and the Chilterns. The London Borough of Harrow () is a London borough in northwest London, England; it forms part of Outer London. It borders four other London boroughs Barnet to the east of ancient Watling Street (now the A5 road), Brent to the southeast, Ealing to the south and Hillingdon to the west plus the Hertfordshire districts of Three Rivers and Hertsmere to the north. The local authority is Harrow London Borough Council. The London borough was formed in 1965, based on boundaries that had been established in 1934. Harrow High School
Harrow High School is a co-educational academy in the London Borough of Harrow and a specialist Sports College. It was previously called Gayton High School and Harrow County School for Boys. The school has a sixth form for post-16 studies part of the Harrow Sixth Form Collegiate. There was an independent school with the same name on a nearby site until the late 1980s. History The site was formerly the home of Harrow County School for Boys, a grammar school. In 1975, when the London Borough of Harrow adopted a comprehensive system of education, the school became known as Gayton High School: it remained an all-boys school. Comprehensive Gayton High School was the last school in Harrow to become comprehensive in September 1975. All articles are published anonymously, except for letters which are signed. ''The Harrovian'' is printed on cream paper and is usually 8 A4 sides long (including photos). Articles are written on any topic. There are comment articles on current affairs, reports on school trips, society meetings, and concerts amongst other things as well as the results of school matches. The only regular column is 'Here and There' which reports on achievements of Old Harrovians, staff weddings/babies, and other notable events. However, other columns come and go.
