English Language
English is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family, with its earliest forms spoken by the inhabitants of early medieval England. Mary Jean Harrold
Mary Jean Harrold (March 12, 1947 – September 19, 2013) was an American computer scientist noted for her research on software engineering. She was also noted for her leadership in broadening participation in computing. She was on the boards of both CRA and CRA-W and was Co-Chair of CRA-W from 2003-2006. Biography Harrold received a B.A. in Mathematics in 1970 and a M.S. in Mathematics in 1975, both from Marshall University. Harrold taught secondary mathematics in West Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania from 1970-1982. She then attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh. She received a M.S. in Computer Science in 1985 and a Ph.D in Computer Science in 1988, both from University of Pittsburgh. Her dissertation adviser was Prof. Mary Lou Soffa. Thomas Leonard Harrold (June 21, 1902 – June 16, 1973) was a United States Army lieutenant general. He was commander of the 9th Armored Division, United States Army Armor School, 1st Cavalry Division, 8th Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division, III Corps, and United States Army Caribbean. From 1958 to 1961 he served as commandant of the National War College. Early life Harrold was born in San Diego, California on June 21, 1902. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1925 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant of Cavalry. Rowland Edward Harrold MB., M.Chem (13 May 1865 – 6 November 1924) was a South Australian dermatologist and floriculturist. History Harrold was born in South Australia, son of Henry Charles Harrold and his wife Sarah Catherine Harrold, née Peake, who married in 1858. He was educated at J. L. Young's Adelaide Educational Institution and at Glenelg Grammar School. On matriculating, he studied medicine at Edinburgh University, graduating Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Chemistry, then took up a position at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, as assistant to Dr. Morell Mackenzie. He returned to Australia in 1892, when he started to practise as a General Practitioner. Orville Harrold
Orville Harrold (17 November 1877 – 23 October 1933) was an American operatic tenor and musical theatre actor. He began his career in 1906 as a performer in operettas in New York City, and was also seen during his early career in cabaret, musical theatre, and vaudeville performances. With the aid of Oscar Hammerstein I, he branched out into opera in 1910 as a leading tenor with Hammerstein's opera houses in New York City and Philadelphia. While his career from this point on primarily consisted of opera performances, he periodically returned to operetta and musical theatre throughout his career. He notably created the role of Captain Dick Warrington in the world premiere of Victor Herbert's operetta '' Naughty Marietta'' in November 1910.
