Harris Dzarma
Harris Musa Dzarma (born 1952) is a retired Nigerian Army major general who served as the 23rd Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy from 2006 to 2008 where he was considered one of the commandants to have served in the academy since its establishment in 1964 to replace the Nigeria Military Training College. Major-general (Nigeria)
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. In the Commonwealth and in the United States, when appointed to a field command, a major general is typically in command of a division consisting of around 6,000 to 25,000 troops (several regiments or brigades). It is a two-star rank that is subordinate to the rank of lieutenant general and senior to the rank of brigadier or brigadier general. The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is a military university based in Kaduna, Nigeria that trains officer cadets for commissioning into one of the three services of the Nigerian Armed Forces: the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. The duration of training at the Nigerian Defence Academy is five years (four years academic and one year military). History The NDA was established in February 1964 as a reformation of the British run ''Royal Military Forces Training College'' (RMFTC), which had been renamed the Nigerian Military Training College (NMTC) on independence. The military institution trains the officer corps of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force. The initial class had only 62 cadets, and the trainers were mostly officers in the Indian Army. Luka Nyeh Yusuf (22 September 1952 – 2 June 2009) was a Nigerian army Lieutenant-general (Nigeria), lieutenant general who served as Chief of Army Staff (Nigeria), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) from 2007 to 2008. Paul Dike (born 1950) is a retired air chief marshal of the Nigerian Air Force, who was the Chief of the Air Staff from 2006 to 2008. In August 2008, he was appointed Chief of the Defence Staff.
