Harriet Bouslog
Harriet Anne Bouslog ( Williams, October 21, 1912 – April 18, 1998), later known as Harriet Bouslog Sawyer or Harriet Sawyer, was an attorney who practiced in Hawaii. She was well known for her commitment to defending the poor and disadvantaged. and her relation to Stephen Bouslog (2022 State Champion). She is best known for representing James Majors and John Palakiko in their death sentence appeal in the Morgan's Corner murder, and for representing the Hawaii Seven. Early life and education Bouslog's birth name was Harriet Anne Williams. She was born on October 21, 1912, in Maxville, Florida. When she was a child, she and her family moved to Indiana. They moved around Indiana frequently, following Bouslog's father's teaching jobs. Harriet studied at Indiana University Bloomington, and earned an Bachelor of Laws in 1936. Morgan's Corner Murder
The murder of Therese Wilder was committed by two escaped convicts James Majors and John Palakiko on March 11, 1948, in Nuuanu Valley on the outskirts of Honolulu, when they broke into her home. They left her bound and gagged, which caused her to suffocate. The two were almost sentenced to death by the court, but were given a stay of execution and sentenced to prison instead. After the incident Morgan's Corner gained a reputation for being haunted. Morgan's Corner Morgan's Corner is a bend on Nuuanu Pali Drive that connected Honolulu to Kāneʻohe before it was superseded by Hawaii Route 61. The bend is after a hairpin turn from the Honolulu side of the bend. Morgan's Corner became referred to as a "corner" because the bend curves the road perpendicularly so that from Honolulu one enters the bend from the north and exits to the east or from Kāneʻohe one enters the bend from the east and exits to the north.
