Harran, Norway
Harran is a village in Grong municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the river Namsen in the Namdalen valley. It is about north of the village of Medjå, the administrative center of Grong. The village of Gartland lies about south of Harran. From 1923 until 1964, the village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Harran. The village lies along the European route E6 highway. Harran Station is located in the village along the Nordlandsbanen railway line. Gartland
Gartland is a village in the municipality of Grong in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the northwestern side of the river Namsen about north of the municipal center, Medjå. The village sits along the main European route E6 and the Nordland Line. Directly across the river are the farm areas of Elstad and Rosset. The main sources of income for residents of Gartland is agriculture, forestry, and salmon fishing during the summer. Gartland is a scarcely populated area of about fifteen farms. There is one store in the area which sells building materials. In earlier days, the village of Gartland had a general store, post office, school, and Gløshaug Church (the old church for the southern part of the parish of Harran). Harran Church
Harran Church ( no, Harran kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Grong municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Harran. It is the main church for the Harran parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1874 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 200 people. The church was built to replace the old Gløshaug Church which was getting to be too small and in need of repair. The church was consecrated on 30 September 1874. The Nordland Line ( no, Nordlandsbanen, ) is a railway line between Trondheim and Bodø, Norway. It is the longest in Norway and lacks electrification. The route runs through the counties of Trøndelag (formerly Sør-Trøndelag and Nord-Trøndelag) and Nordland, carrying a combination of commuter, long-haul passenger and freight trains. From Trondheim Central Station to Steinkjer Station the line is most heavily used, with hourly services by the Trøndelag Commuter Rail. European Route E6
European route E6 ( no, Europavei 6, sv, Europaväg 6, or simply E6) is the main north-south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Harran (municipality)
Harran is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1923 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality was located in the Namdalen valley and it included all of what is now the northern part of the municipality of Grong in Trøndelag county. The administrative centre was the village of Harran where the Harran Church is located.
