Harold "Harry" Watson (1883 – 15 February 1963) was a United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, British Athletics (sport), athlete who competed at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. He died in Sutton, London. In the Athletics at the 1908 Summer Olympics – Men's 100 metres, 100 metres, Watson took third place in his first round heat and did not advance to the semifinals. Harold Watson (cricketer, Born 1888)
Harold Watson (5 March 1888 – 14 March 1969) was an English cricketer active in the 1910s and 1920s, making just over a dozen appearances in first-class cricket. Born at Gooderstone, Norfolk, Watson was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium and who played most of his cricket at minor counties level with Norfolk. Career Watson made his debut in minor counties cricket for Norfolk in the 1910 Minor Counties Championship against Suffolk, winning the Minor Counties Championship in his first season. He made two appearances in his debut season but followed this up with nine in 1911, and eight in 1912. Norfolk against won the Minor Counties Championship in 1913, with Watson playing nine matches in that season. It was in 1913 that he made his debut in first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against Kent at Lord's, with him taking a wicket with his first delivery in first-class cricket when he dismissed England Test cricketer Frank Woolley. Harold Boyes Watson (23 October 1893 – 19 March 1972) was an English first-class cricketer and an officer in both the British Army and the British Indian Army. Biography Watson was born in October 1893 at St Margarets, Middlesex. He served in the First World War, being commissioned into the British Army as a second lieutenant with the West Yorkshire Regiment in August 1914. He was second with the 26th Provisional Battalion in August 1915, and upon its disbandment prior to the Military Service Act 1916, he became liable for overseas service. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in November 1916, precedence from July 1916. In May 1917, he was seconded for duty with the British Indian Army, where he served with 3rd Skinner's Horse. He saw action in Balochistan against the Marri and Khetran tribes in 1918. Harold Ray Watson (born April 17, 1934) is a retired missionary and pioneer in the field of agronomy. He is world recognized for developing a method of cultivating denuded mountain slopes, and for encouraging utilization of the method to help the poorest, small scale, tropical farmers, specifically in the Philippines. He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1985. Early life Watson was born on a farm from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the second child and only son of Joseph Watson and Dorothy Mae Cagle. His father farmed cotton, corn and watermelon on of sloping hillside land. His parents separated and his father worked at a government arsenal in Texas and later remarried, but his mother and the two children remained in Mississippi on the family farm. Harold Percival "Whipper" Watson (May 6, 1923 – November 19, 2002) was a Canadian professional ice hockey left wing who played for the Brooklyn Americans, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Chicago Black Hawks, winning five Stanley Cups over a 14-year career in the National Hockey League. Playing career Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Watson played junior hockey for the Saskatoon Junior Chiefs (1938–39), the Saskatoon Chiefs and Saskatoon Dodgers (1939–40), and the Saskatoon Junior Quakers (1940–41). In 1941, at age 18, Watson turned professional with the Brooklyn Americans in the NHL in what would be the team's final season. He was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in an intraleague draft and played there in 1942–43, winning his first Stanley Cup. Watson then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as World War II escalated.
