Harold W. Giard
Harold W. Giard is a former Democratic member of the Vermont State Senate, representing the Addison senate district. Harold W. Giard was first elected to the Vermont State Senate in 2004, and was reelected in 2006. Biography Giard grew up in Bridport, Vermont. After graduating from Middlebury Union High School, he attended St. Michael's College. He is married to Shirley Giard. The couple have one daughter. Giard is a former dairy farmer. Public life Giard was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 1972 and continued to serve there until 1980. He was elected to the Vermont Senate in 2004. In June 2012 Giard told The Addison Independent that he would not be seeking a fifth term in the Vermont Senate.Flowers, John"Sen. Vermont Senate
The Vermont Senate is the upper house of the Vermont General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Vermont. The senate consists of 30 members. Senate districting divides the 30 members into three single-member districts, six two-member districts, three three-member districts, and one six-member district. Each senator represents at least 20,300 citizens. Senators are elected to two-year terms and there is no limit to the number of terms that a senator may serve. As in other upper houses of state and territorial legislatures and the U.S. Senate, the state senate of Vermont has special functions, such as confirming or rejecting gubernatorial appointments to executive departments, the state cabinet, commissions, and boards, as well as electing members to the Vermont Supreme Court. Addison Vermont Senate District, 2002-2012
The Addison district is one of 16 districts of the Vermont Senate. The current district plan is included in the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2020 U.S. census, which applies to legislatures elected in 2022, 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030. The Addison district includes all of Addison County, Buel's Gore and the Town of Huntington from Chittenden County, and the Town of Rochester from Windsor County. Bridport is a New England town, town in Addison County, Vermont, United States. The town was founded October 9, 1761. The population was 1,225 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. Saint Michael's College
Saint Michael's College (St. Mikes or Saint Michael's) is a private Roman Catholic college in Colchester, Vermont. Saint Michael's was founded in 1904 by the Society of Saint Edmund. It grants Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in over 30 majors to over 1,600 undergraduate students. Housing availability is guaranteed for all four years although about 10% of students, mostly upperclassmen, live off campus. The Vermont House of Representatives is the lower house of the Vermont General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Vermont.
