Harold Scott (actor)
Harold Scott (21 April 1891 – 15 April 1964) was an English actor of stage and screen. His stage work ran from the 1910s to the 1960s, and included the original West End productions of '' The Constant Nymph'' (1926–1927), ''Grand Hotel'' (1931–1932), ''Waters of the Moon'' (1951–1953) and Agatha Christie's '' Spider's Web'' (1954–1956). ''Trottie True'' is a 1949 British musical comedy film directed by Brian Desmond Hurst and starring Jean Kent, James Donald and Hugh Sinclair. It was known as ''The Gay Lady'' in the US, and is an infrequent British Technicolor film of the period. According to BFI Screenonline, "British 1940s Technicolor films offer an abundance of visual pleasures, especially when lovingly restored by the National Film Archive. ''Trottie True'' is not among the best known, but comes beautifully packaged, gift wrapped with all the trimmings." The film is based on a novel by Caryl Brahms and S.J. Simon, published in 1946. ''The Water Gipsies'' is a 1932 British, low-budget "quota quickie" drama film directed by Maurice Elvey and starring Ann Todd, Sari Maritza and Ian Hunter. It is an adaptation of the 1930 novel '' The Water Gipsies'' by A.P. Herbert. The film was made at Beaconsfield Studios. Vivian Ellis worked as the film's composer, and later used some of the music in the 1955 stage musical adaptation of the novel. The film also features a 22 year old Raymond Raikes in the role of sozzled Bertie Peach at the party. Raikes went on to become England's most celebrated director and producer of classical radio drama and the first to broadcast drama in stereo. Plot Four youth Teddy boys are on trial for the murder of a garage night watchman in the course of a burglary on the night of January 15. Witnesses and the accused give differing accounts of the lead-up to the crime, a dispiriting and frustrating evening out in London. Flashbacks of the teenagers' insecure and sometimes alienated lives contrast strongly with the austere legality of the courtroom as, by degrees, the truth emerges. ''The Twenty Questions Murder Mystery'' is a 1950 British crime film directed by Paul L. Stein and starring Robert Beatty, Rona Anderson, and Clifford Evans.
