Harold Kitson
Harry Austin Kitson (17 June 1874 – 30 November 1951) was a male tennis player from South Africa who won a gold medal at the men's doubles event at the 1912 Summer Olympics. Tennis career Kitson competed in the singles and doubles events at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. In the singles event he had a bye in the first round and lost in straight sets to George Caridia in the second round. In the doubles he was partnered by Victor Gauntlett and reached the quarterfinals where Clement Cazalet and Charles P. Dixon proved too strong. Kitson was more successful at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm winning two medals. He won the gold medal in the men's doubles event together with Charles Lindhurst Winslow, defeating the Austrian team Arthur Zborzil / Fritz Pipes in the final. Richmond is a town situated on the banks of the upper Illovo River in the midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Victor Gauntlett (tennis)
Victor Reginald Gauntlett (30 January 1884 – 12 February 1949) was a South African male tennis player. Biography He competed for the South Africa in the tennis event at the 1908 Summer Olympics where he took part in the men's singles and doubles event. In the singles competition he was beaten in the first round by Josiah Ritchie in straight sets. In the doubles he paired up with Harold Kitson and reached the quarterfinals which they lost in five sets to the British team of Clement Cazalet and Charles Dixon. Gauntlett reached the finals of the 1908 men's singles event at the South African Championships but was defeated by Harold Kitson in five sets. Anthony Wilding
Anthony Frederick Wilding (31 October 1883 – 9 May 1915), also known as Tony Wilding, was a New Zealand world No. 1 tennis player and soldier who was killed in action during World War I. Considered the world's first tennis superstar, Wilding was the son of wealthy English immigrants to Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand and enjoyed the use of private tennis courts at their home. He obtained a legal education at Trinity College, Cambridge and briefly joined his father's law firm. Wilding was a first-class cricketer and a keen motorcycle enthusiast. The South African Open – formerly known as the South African Championships, and for sponsorship reasons the Altech NCR South African Open and the Panasonic South African Open – is a defunct Grand Prix Tennis Tour, World Championship Series, ATP Tour and Virginia Slims Circuit affiliated tennis tournament played from 1891 to 2011 in South Africa. It was part of the pre-open era international seasonal tours from 1891 to 1967 from 1968 to 1971, part of the open era independent events tour from 1972, when it became part the men's Grand Prix Tour until 1989. Fritz Felix Pipes (also "Piepes"; 15 April 1887 – 20 January 1983) was an Austrian tennis player who was born in Prague. He was Jewish, and was a medical doctor. Arthur Zborzil (15 July 1885 – 15 October 1937) was a male tennis player from Austria. At the 1912 Summer Olympics, 1912 Stockholm Olympics he teamed up with Felix Pipes to win a silver medal in the men's doubles event.
