Harmen Abma
Harmen Abma (21 November 1937 in Hilaard – 30 November 2007 in Sneek) was a Frisian abstract and conceptual artist and painter. He was a member of an artistic group in the 1960s known as in Harlingen. He often experimented with materials as diverse as electric wire, concrete mesh, rope, jute and seat cushions in his artistic works, and contributed tile pictures to houses. In the 1970s and 1980s he heavily researched and produced work based on colour mixing, and exploring the mathematical dimensions of it such as ratio and surface. Hilaard
Hilaard ( nl, Hijlaard) is a village in Leeuwarden municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 297 in January 2017. History It was first mentioned in 1329 as Elawerth, and means "settlement of the people of Ele (person / noble man)". Hilaard is a ''terp'' (artificial living mound) village from the middle ages. The John the Baptist Church has a 13th century tower. The church itself dates from the 15th or 16th century. The Bolswarder Tolhuis is a former toll house and has a 1652 weapon of the city of Bolsward for whom the toll was collected. In 1840, Hilaard was home to 229 people. Leeuwarden (; fy, Ljouwert, longname=yes /; Town Frisian: ''Liwwadden''; Leeuwarder dialect: ''Leewarden'') is a city and municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 123,107 (2019). Fries Museum
The Fries Museum (Frisian Museum) is a museum in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. It has won the Global Fine Art Award which is sometimes nicknamed the Museum-Oscar. History (1881-2012) The museum was founded on 13 April 1881 by the "''Provincial Friesch Genootschap ter Beoefening van Friesche Geschied-, Oudheid- en Taalkunde''", a society for the preservation of Frisian culture that itself was founded in 1827 and needed a place to exhibit the various artifacts it had gathered together. In the early decades this local museum on the , an offshoot of the ''Antiquarisch Kabinet van Friesland'', was focussed on typical Hindelooper goods and other Frisian curiosities that had been collected by the local preacher-writer Joost Hiddes Halbertsma. Sneek
Sneek (; fy, Snits) is a city southwest of Leeuwarden and the seat of the former municipality of Sneek in the province of Friesland, Netherlands. As of 2011 it is the seat of the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân (Southwest Friesland). The city had approximately 33,855 inhabitants in January 2017. Gemeentemuseum Den Haag
The Kunstmuseum Den Haag is an art museum in The Hague in the Netherlands, founded in 1866 as the Museum voor Moderne Kunst. Later, until 1998, it was known as Haags Gemeentemuseum, and until the end of September 2019 as Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. It has a collection of around 165,000 works, over many different forms of art.
