Harden Cooper
Harden Fenimore Cooper, Jr. (August 6, 1922 – December 5, 1990) was an American football player and coach who served as an assistant for several college programs, and was the head coach of Brazosport High School in Freeport, Texas, where he led the team to the 1965 state AAAA semifinals. In high school, Cooper played for Mineola High School, and then played for Kilgore College. He later transferred to Tulsa, and was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in the 13th round of the 1947 NFL Draft. Instead of a professional playing career, he opted to become a coach. He later served as lines coach for Houston and defensive line coach for Baylor before finishing his coaching career as a high school head coach. He died in 1990. Wills Point, Texas
Wills Point is a city in Van Zandt County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,524 at the 2010 census. History Founded in 1873, Wills Point gets its name from an early American settler, William Wills, who had arrived in the area ''circa'' 1848. Wills eventually purchased a cabin from Adam Sullivan in 1852. The name 'point' may also derive from the shape of the original timberline near the cabin, though there have been unsubstantiated arguments that the name relates to the area's elevation. The layout of the city was the work of engineer General Grenville M. Dodge of the California Construction Company. The downtown streets were laid with red bricks upon packed sand in the 1920s by locals and remain in use. Chicago Cardinals (NFL, 1920–59)
The professional American football team now known as the Arizona Cardinals previously played in Chicago, Illinois, as the Chicago Cardinals from 1898 to 1959 before relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, for the 1960 through 1987 seasons. Roots can be traced to 1898, when Chris O'Brien established an amateur Chicago-based athletic team, the Morgan Athletic Club. O'Brien later moved them to Chicago's Normal Park and renamed them the Racine Normals, then adopting the maroon color from the University of Chicago uniforms. In the 1920s the Cardinals became part of a professional circuit in Chicago. The Cardinals, along with the Chicago Bears, were founding members of the National Football League in 1920. 1952 Houston Cougars Football Team
The 1952 Houston Cougars football team, also known as the Houston Cougars, Houston, or UH, represented the University of Houston in the 1952 college football season as a member of the NCAA. It was the 7th year of season play for Houston. The team was coached by fifth-year head coach Clyde Lee. The team played its games off-campus at Rice Stadium, which had been built in 1950. The Cougars finished the season ranked as #19 by the Coaches Poll. It was the first time Houston finished a season as a nationally ranked team. Another first for the program was a conference championship, as the Cougars earned a perfect 3–0 record in Missouri Valley Conference play. Following the season, Houston defensive tackle J. D. Kimmel was voted as the program's first All-American. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line.
