Harano Sur
''Harano Sur'' () is a 1957 Indian Bengali-language romantic drama film by Ajoy Kar, starring Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar, with music by Hemant Kumar, and sung by Geeta Dutt. This is the first film that Uttam had produced along with Ajoy Kar. The film is regarded as one of the finest examples of Bengali cinema of this early period. The film is based on the 1942 American film '' Random Harvest''. The film become huge success at the box office. The legendary Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar– that’s what this movie is all about. Ajoy Kar
Ajoy Kar (Bengali:অজয় কর; 27 March 1914 – 25 January 1985) was an Indian film director and cinematographer . He directed 26 films between 1949 and 1983. His 1961 film '' Saptapadi'' was entered into the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival. Ajoy Kar provided a whole new expression to Bengali cinema. His 1971 film '' Malyadan'' won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali. Early life Ajoy Kar was born on 27 March 1914, in Calcutta, British India. He left college in 1931 to become a professional photographer, and took up cinematography a few years later. Career After initially working as an assistant to Jatin Das, Kar became a cinematographer at Indrapuri Studios, Calcutta, in 1938. Over the next four decades, he shot more than 80 feature films. Pahari Sanyal (22 February 1906 – 10 February 1974) was an Indian actor and singer who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. Sanyal acted in many Bengali films, such as ''Harano Sur'', ''Bhanu Goenda Jahar Assistant'', and ''Shilpi''. Besides being a character actor, Sanyal gave a lead performance in his portrayal of Bengali reformer Vidyasagar and of the poet, playwright/dramatist and actor Girishchandra Ghosh in "Mahakabi Girishchandra". The 5th National Film Awards, formerly the State Awards for Films, were a set of awards presented by the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to recognize the best Indian films of 1957. Gauriprasanna Majumdar (1925–1986) was an Indian lyricist and writer, known for his work in Indian cinema and Bangladeshi Cinema . He is most commonly associated with the black and white era of Bengali cinema, when he penned several enduring classics for films. He won the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards for best lyricist for Swaralipi (1962), Palatak (1964), Anthony Firingee (1968), Bon Palashir Padabali (1974), Sanyasi Raja (1976) and Anurager Chhoan (1987, posthumously).
