Happy Death Day
''Happy Death Day'' is a 2017 American black comedy slasher film directed by Christopher Landon, and written by Scott Lobdell. It stars Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard. The film was produced by Jason Blum through his Blumhouse Productions banner, in association with Digital Riot Media and Vesuvius Productions. It follows a college student who is murdered on the night of her birthday and begins reliving the day repeatedly, at which point she sets out to find the killer and stop her death. Originally announced in 2007 under the title ''Half to Death'', the film was released on October 13, 2017, by Universal Pictures. It grossed $125million worldwide on a $4.8million budget, with critics deeming the film entertaining and praising Rothe's performance while acknowledging the familiar premise, and describing it as "'' Groundhog Day'' meets ''Scream''". Christopher Landon (filmmaker)
Christopher Beau Landon (born February 27, 1975) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter best known for writing the thriller '' Disturbia'' (2007) and found-footage films '' Paranormal Activity 2'' (2010), ''Paranormal Activity 3'' (2011), and ''Paranormal Activity 4'' (2012), directing the horror comedy ''Happy Death Day'', and both writing and directing '' Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones'' (2014), '' Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse'', the sequel '' Happy Death Day 2U'', and '' Freaky'', which were also horror films, most of them with comedic elements. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. ''Paranormal Activity'' is an American supernatural horror franchise consisting of eight films and additional media. Created by Oren Peli, the original film premiered in 2007 and was widely released in 2009. The films are typically based around various families who become haunted by the demon Asmodeus "Tobi" of the Book of Tobit, that stalks, terrifies and ultimately murders several members of the family and other bystanders during the course of the films. The time loop or temporal loop is a plot device in fiction whereby characters re-experience a span of time which is repeated, sometimes more than once, with some hope of breaking out of the cycle of repetition.
