Happy Camp Canyon Regional Park is a regional park located in the eastern foothills of Moorpark, California. The park has been run by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority since 1990. Trails There are of trails in the park, ranked at a moderate difficulty. One of the longest trails in the park is Happy Camp Loop, at long. Wildlife The park has been known to have native wildlife from the region, including deer and mountain lions. A mountain lion sighting caused a closure of the park in 1994. Mountain Lion
The cougar (''Puma concolor'') is a large cat native to the Americas. Its range spans from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes in South America and is the most widespread of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere. Guiberson Fire
The Guiberson Fire was a wildfire that burned from September 22 until September 27, 2009 in Guiberson Canyon of the western Santa Susana Mountains, between Fillmore and Moorpark in Ventura County, California. The fire The Guiberson Fire, which started between Fillmore and Moorpark, caused the evacuation of almost 600 homes in Meridian Hills and Bardsdale with about 1,000 structures threatened, in addition to oil pipelines in the area. The Day Fire was a devastating wildfire that burned of land in the Topatopa Mountains, within the Los Padres National Forest in Ventura County, southern California. History The fire, which was the largest of the 2006 California wildfire season, is the 17th largest fire in California history. The fire started on Labor Day September 4, 2006, and by October 1, had cost $70.3 million; at one point, the Day Fire had 4,600 active firefighters combating it. The Day Fire burned approximately of both Los Padres National Forest (97.4%) and privately owned lands. The fire started on the Ojai Ranger District, in the congressionally designated Sespe Wilderness. The Sespe Wilderness is under the federal jurisdiction of the United States Forest Service. The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) provides fire protection and emergency response services for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, and for seven other cities within the county.
