Hapoel Ironi Safed ( he, הפועל עירוני צפת) is an Israeli football club who bases in Safed. History An Hapoel branch operated in Safed during the British Mandate, as early as 1932 After the establishment of Israel, the club was reorganized and a football section was founded in 1951 and at first played in regional leagues in the Upper Galilee, before joining Liga Gimel in 1954. The club won its Liga Gimel division in 1955–56, but remained in Liga Gimel after losing in the promotion play-offs. A season later, following a merge with another local club, HaChalutz Safed, the club once again won its division and won through the promotion playoffs to secure a promotion to Liga Bet. They were promoted to the second tier for the first time, after they won Liga Bet North A division in the 1961–62 season. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the Mandate for Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of Israel Football Association, football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. Israel Football League System
The Israeli football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for club football in Israel. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, and allows even the smallest club to dream of rising to the very top of the system. There are five levels, containing a total of 16 divisions. It is run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). Structure The top division of Israeli football is the Premier League. 2015–16 Liga Bet
The 2015–16 Liga Bet season is the 60th season of fourth tier football in Israel. League matches began on 2 October 2015 and ended on 19 April 2016, followed by promotion and relegation play-offs. Tzeirei Kafr Kanna (champions of the North A division), F.C Haifa Robi Shapira (champions of the North B division), F.C. Bnei Jaffa Ortodoxim (champions of the South A division) and F.C. Dimona (champions of the South B division) won their divisional titles and promotion to Liga Alef. The clubs ranked 2nd to 5th in each division entered a promotion play-off, at the end of which, Hapoel Umm al-Fahm (from the North section) and F.C. The 2013–14 Liga Gimel season saw 113 clubs competing in 8 regional divisions for promotion to Liga Bet. Hapoel Ironi Safed (Upper Galilee), Maccabi Ironi Yafa (Lower Galilee), F.C. al-Nahda Nazareth (Jezreel), F.C. Baqa (Samaria), Hapoel Kafr Qasim Shouaa (Sharon), F.C. Roei Heshbon Tel Aviv (Tel Aviv), F.C. Beitar Yavne (Central) and Hapoel Merhavim (South) all won their respective divisions and were promoted to Liga Bet. Karmiel
Karmiel ( he, כַּרְמִיאֵל) is a city in northern Israel. Established in 1964 as a development town, Karmiel is located in the Beit HaKerem Valley which divides upper and lower Galilee. The city is located south of the Acre-Safed road, from Safed and from Ma'alot-Tarshiha and from Acre. In Karmiel had a population of . 1975–76 Liga Alef
The 1975–76 Liga Alef season was the last in which Liga Alef was the second tier of Israeli football, as at the end of the season, Liga Artzit came into existence, and became the new second tier, Liga Alef became the third tier. Hapoel Acre (champions of the North Division) and Hapoel Yehud (champions of the South Division) promoted to Liga Leumit, both in the first time in their history. The eight clubs which placed between second to fifth in each of their respective regional divisions, with the addition of four clubs which have been relegated from Liga Leumit, formed the new Liga Artzit in the following season. Liga Artzit
Liga Artzit ( he, ליגה ארצית, lit. ''Country League'') is the defunct third division of Israeli Football League, beneath its highest division Premier League and the second division Liga Leumit. Before being cancelled in 2009, it was run by the Israel Football Association. It was replaced by Liga Alef. Structure There were 12 teams in Liga Artzit. Each team played 33 matches; the first 22 matches were played on a home and away basis, with the last 11 fixtures based on league positions after 22 games. Like the majority of leagues in the world, three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss.
