Hans Zach
Hans Zach (born 30 March 1949) is a German ice hockey player and coach. During his playing career he played for five different clubs in the Eishockey-Bundesliga, EC Bad Tölz, SC Riessersee, Berliner SC, EV Landshut and SB Rosenheim. He also represented the German national team in four Ice Hockey World Championships in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979 as well as at the 1980 Winter Olympics. As coach he was in charge of the EC Ratingen, SV Bayreuth, Düsseldorfer EG, Kassel Huskies, Zürcher SC, Kölner Haie, Hannover Scorpions. His greatest success came with Düsseldorfer EG, who he won three national titles with from 1991 to 1993. From 1998 to 2004 he coached the German national ice hockey team. After a period in retirement following his championship-winning season in 2009–10 with the Hannover Scorpions Zach returned to coaching on 1 January 2014 when he took over as coach of Adler Mannheim, signing a contract until the end of the 2013–14 season. The centre (or center in the United States) in ice hockey is a forward (hockey), forward position of a player whose primary Hockey rink#Zones, zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Ice Hockey At The 1980 Winter Olympics
The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, United States, was the 14th Olympic Championship. Twelve teams competed in the tournament, which was held from February 12 to 24, 1980. The United States won its second gold medal, including a win over the heavily favored Soviet Union that became known as the held at the Olympic Fieldhouse (8,000) and the Olympic Arena (2,500). Format The IIHF ceased running a championship in Olympic years. Nations that did not participate in the Lake Placid Olympics were invited to compete in the inaugural Thayer Tutt Trophy in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia. The German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, also called Eishockeymuseum in German, was founded in 1988 and is located in Augsburg. Adler Mannheim
The Adler Mannheim (English: ''Mannheim Eagles'', formerly Mannheimer ERC) is a professional ice hockey team of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, the highest-level ice hockey league in Germany. The team is based in Mannheim, a city in the northern part of Baden-Württemberg. Currently, the team plays at SAP Arena, where they moved to at the beginning of the 2005–06 season after having played at Eisstadion am Friedrichspark for nearly seven decades from 1938 through 2005. Hannover Scorpions
The Hannover Scorpions are a professional ice hockey team, which plays in the Oberliga, Germany's third tier ice hockey league. They previously played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga from 1996 to 2013. History Founded in 1975 as ESC Wedemark, the team was renamed Wedemark Scorpions in their first DEL season in 1996 after the rock band Scorpions, who also call Hanover, Lower Saxony their home. The next season, the Scorpions relocated to Hanover proper and began playing their home games at TUI Arena in 2000. The Kölner Haie (English: ''Cologne Sharks'') are an ice hockey club based in Cologne, Germany that plays in the professional Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). The team was one of the founding members of the DEL. The ''Kölner Haie'' play their home games in the DEL and the German Cup (DEB-Pokal) at the Lanxess Arena, which opened in 1998, located in the district Deutz. Zürcher SC
The Zürcher Schlittschuh Club Lions (ZSC Lions) are a professional ice hockey team located in Zürich, Switzerland, playing in the National League (NL). Their home arena is the 12,000-seat Swiss Life Arena. The team was founded in 1930 and played at the Dolder-Kunsteisbahn from its establishment until 1950. Kassel Huskies
The EC Kassel Huskies are a professional ice hockey club based in Kassel, Hessen, Germany. The club currently competes in DEL2, the second level of ice hockey in Germany. The Huskies were founded in 1977 and have competed in the top five levels of the hockey in Germany since that time. Kassel's home barn is the Eissporthalle Kassel, which has a capacity of 6,100.
