Hans Van Heijningen
J.G.C. (Hans) van Heijningen (born 15 March 1953) is a Dutch politician. He was party secretary of the Socialist Party (SP), a position comparable to the post of chairman in other parties. Before holding this office, Van Heijningen was a foreign policy advisor to the SP whose areas of responsibility included European politics, and development cooperation. Biography Van Heijningen attended high school at the Stanislas College in Delft and from 1972 to 1979 studied sociology at the University of Amsterdam. During his military service he was active in the national servicemen’s union, the VVDM, serving for a year as a member of the national executive. From 1984 to 1992 Van Heijningen lived in Nicaragua, where his then girlfriend – she is now his wife – worked as a general practitioner in the mountain village of Comalapa in the Department of Chontales. Socialist Party (Netherlands)
The Socialist Party ( nl, Socialistische Partij, ; abbreviated as SP, ) is a democratic socialist political party in the Netherlands. Founded in 1971 as the Communist Party of the Netherlands/Marxist–Leninist (KPN/ML, nl, link=no, Communistische Partij van Nederland/Marxistisch–Leninistisch), the party has since moderated itself from Marxism–Leninism and Maoism towards democratic socialism and social democracy. The SP has also been described as left-wing populist and soft Eurosceptic, and is an advocate of Dutch republicanism. Positioned to the political left of the Labour Party (Netherlands), Labour Party, the party has been part of the parliamentary opposition since it was formed. General elections were held in the Netherlands on 22 January 2003. In the early days of the campaign the CDA of incumbent prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende and the VVD, the smallest coalition party, saw a major lead. After TV debates the PvdA (which had experienced a landslide defeat in the 2002 general election) of opposition leader Wouter Bos caught up, overtaking the VVD and regaining some of the territory lost in the previous election. A Kalashnikov (Калашников) rifle is any one of a series of automatic rifles based on the original design of Mikhail Kalashnikov. They are officially known in Russian as "Avtomát Kaláshnikova" ( rus, Автома́т Кала́шникова, t=Kalashnikov's Automatic Gun), but are widely known as Kalashnikovs, AKs, or in Russian slang, a "Kalash". Hoenderloo () is a Dutch village located south west of the city of Apeldoorn. Most of the village is part of the municipality of Apeldoorn, but a small part belongs to the municipality of Ede, among which the hamlet . The village is located in the Southern part of the Veluwe and close to the national park Hoge Veluwe and the Deelerwoud. Assassination Of Pim Fortuyn
Pim Fortuyn, a Dutch politician, was assassinated by Volkert van der Graaf in Hilversum, North Holland on 6 May 2002, nine days before the general election of 2002, in which he was leading the Pim Fortuyn List (LPF). On a few occasions, Fortuyn had expressed his fear of being murdered: after being pied at the official release of his book ''De puinhopen van acht jaar Paars'', as well as, most notably, on the talk show ''Jensen!'' on 22 March 2002. In court at his trial, Van der Graaf, an environmental and animal rights activist, said he murdered Fortuyn to stop him from exploiting Muslims as "scapegoats" and targeting "the weak members of society" in seeking political power. Van der Graaf was sentenced to eighteen years in prison. The sentence was upheld after he appealed. He was released on parole in 2014 after completing two-thirds of his sentence and has since lived in Apeldoorn, Gelderland.
