Hans Tostrup
Hans Tostrup (20 October 1799 – 27 January 1856) was a Norwegian politician, civil servant and government official. Tostrup was born at Hjelmeland in Rogaland, Norway. He was the son of infantry captain Nicolai Tostrup (1768–1858) and his wife Thale Margrethe Resen Holfeldt (1779–1860). He was one of eight siblings in a family which included goldsmith Jacob Tostrup (1806–1890) and timber merchant Christopher Tostrup (1804-1881) who co-owned the company Tostrup & Mathiesen. He started a military career, but due to declining vision he switched to a civil servant career, graduating as cand.jur. in 1824. From 1832 to 1836, he was appointed as a secretary at the University of Christiania (now University of Oslo). For the next seven years, he held a position at Fredriksvern (''Fredriksvern verft'') in Stavern. Christopher Henrik Holfeldt Tostrup
Christopher Henrik Holfeldt Tostrup (20 September 1804- 17 October 1881) was a Norwegian timber merchant and land-owner. Biography Tostrup was born at Hjelmeland in Rogaland, Norway. He was the son of infantry captain Nicolai Tostrup (1768–1858) and his wife Thale Margrethe Resen Holfeldt (1779–1860). He was one of eight siblings in a family which included goldsmith Jacob Tostrup (1806–1890) and politician Hans Tostrup (1799-1856) . In 1828, he was employed by Haagen Mathiesen (1759–1842) and became manager of Mathiesen's properties in Hurdal, Skedsmo and Trysil. After Mathiesen's death in 1842, he bought the properties in Hurdal, Hadeland and Nannestad together with Mathiesen's son Mogens Larsen Mathiesen (1799–1875). Hjelmeland
is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Ryfylke. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Hjelmelandsvågen. Other villages in the municipality include Fister, Årdal, and Jøsenfjorden. Hjelmeland is known for its fruit (apples, pears, plums, cherries and strawberries) and fish production. Salmon has been important for the fish industry in Hjelmeland for a couple of decades, but white fish such as cod and halibut has increased its value in the latter years. The municipality is the 105th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Hjelmeland is the 250th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,534. Lauritz Weidemann
Lauritz Weidemann (27 November 1775 – 1 August 1856) was a Norwegian judge, civil servant and politician. He served as county governor for almost 35 years, participated at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in 1814, and was a member of the Parliament of Norway for several periods. Personal life Weidemann was born in Sukkestad, Østre Toten as the son of bailiff Lars Weidemann (1742–1826) and Maria Sommerfeldt (1754–1823). He was married to Ditlevine Marie Quist from 1797. Among his uncles were Christian Sommerfeldt and Ole Hannibal Sommerfeldt, both topographers and county governors. He was himself an uncle of ship constructor Hakon Adelsteen Sommerfeldt and psychiatrist Herman Wedel Major, first cousin of priest and botanist Søren Christian Sommerfeldt and grandfather of industrialist Sophus Weidemann. Michael Conrad Sophus Emil Aubert (2 July 1811 – 8 November 1872) was a Norwegian jurist and politician. Biography Aubert was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was one of ten children born to Benoni Aubert (1768–1832) and Jakobine Henriette Thaulow (1776-1833). One of his brother was professor Ludvig Cæsar Martin Aubert (1807–1887). Christian Ulrik Kastrup (1784 – 6 September 1850) was a Norwegian jurist, military officer and politician. A jurist by education, from Stavanger, he worked as a military officer until 1811, when he became chief of customs in Vardø. In 1817 he became '' fut'' in the district ''Nordhordland og Voss''. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Søndre Bergenhus in 1821, 1822 and 1824. Political parties did not exist at the time. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies.
